| NamePros Regular | will mobile.nytimes.com change into nytimes.mobi I have been trying to approach some companies that are not using the .mobi extension for their mobile site to make them aware about the .mobi extension. I have contacted NYTIMES and emailed the following: Hi, I have noticed you have a working mobile site for nytimes at mobile.nytimes.com. My question to you is: How come you are not using .mobi to accommodate your mobile site? At this time,it appears that someone else may be using the following domain name, nytimes.mobi, without any legitimat interest. Just wanted to point this out, thats all. Find more info at www.mobi. To visit the registration details of the current owner go to http://whois.mtld.mobi/ Sincerely, Rosh They replied back: Thank you for contacting NYTimes.com. We appreciate your feedback and have passed it along to the appropriate department. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance to you. Regards, Daniel Cunningham NYTimes.com Customer Service So whats going to happen ... Lets wait and see ... The more companies chose .mobi, the better for the .mobi extension! Anyone else has had any success? Last edited by rosh86; 04-20-2007 at 03:30 AM. |

| NamePros Regular | Example letter to send to non .mobi companies ... Lets convince them ... I have emailed a few other companies including newspapers in the UK, US and Belgium. This is the type of email I have used. In case someone wants to use it to contact companies, I have added it below. Together we can make .mobi! (letter starts here) Dear Sir/Madam, I have recently noticed that a Dutch newspaper company in Holland is one of the first to offer a mobile version of their site. (go to www.detelegraaf.mobi on your mobile device and read on www.dotmobiz.com for more info) I think it would be brilliant if you could provide such a service bringing live news on a mobile device. I have done some research for you about the dotmobi domain name extension. To find out more about .mobi go to : www.mobi I have also noticed that mirror.mobi is a premium reserved name by the dotmobi company. To obtain this name you can find more info on http://pc.mtld.mobi/switched/premium.html With the help of an existing trademark on mirror I am confident you could make a good chance having rights to this name. Furthermore, I have noticed that following names have been registered by possible cybersquatters: www.dailymirror.mobi and www.thedailymirror.mobi U can verify this at http://whois.mtld.mobi/ where you can find existing owners of these names. There are legal steps that you can undertake in order to get these names back. More information can be found on : http://pc.mtld.mobi/switched/sr_dispresolution.html Most companies have got a .mobi site to show that their site can be viewed on a mobile device and more are joining everyday. Just to give you a couple of examples visit: www.dir.mobi www.bmw.mobi www.bofa.mobi www.sas.mobi www.statefarm.mobi www.cnnmoney.mobi www.google.mobi www.yahoo.mobi www.ferrari.mobi www.nokia.mobi + thousands more I hope you take my view into account, as I have only trying to bring this to your attention. Friendly Regards from a very loyal Daily Mirror reader! Your name Quote:
Thanks Andy for bringing this to my attention! Last edited by rosh86; 04-20-2007 at 01:21 AM.

I did send some emails to .mobi newsportals asking them to provide a .mobi compliant rss feed... That's also necessary for us developers Martin

| NamePros Regular | Rosh86, you work could be useful, but I would rephrase this sentence in your future emails: Currently, some other user is using your brand, nytimes.mobi, without any legitimat interest. English is not my mother tongue, but I would prefer something like "Currently, it seems that some other user..." In order to avoid making affirmations on other people without having discussed with them...
