Collage campus warnings and info via cell phones!

I just heard on fox news that there is a system being tested that students sign up for for information on their cell phones via text messages.
I did not hear the .mobi extension mentioned. I bet it would be a good idea to scoop up a nice domain for campus information at collages. It would be a great idea in light of what just happened to be able to get warnings and information out to students that are in the dark about what is going on at their school. In no way am I for capitalizing on the horrible thing that just happened I just think it could be helpful.

What are your thoughts?

Wow, yesterday I heard this news and looked up campusalert.mobi. Just minutes ago it was still available and I passed. Good reg. scandi.

before the tragedy, we were developing a free alert service for Campus.mobi to allow users to send messages, weather, info, reminders, events, schedules, etc... we will now be tailoring it to also allow Campus Staff to send alerts/info to students via sms & email.

Everyone now realizes the impact an alert service could've made (in terms of # of lives saved). We are not trying to profit off of it, it was something we were already prepping for since we bought the domain Campus.mobi earlier this year. We will make sure that we put the tools/software in the hands of those that can make a difference somewhere down the line (at no cost to campus administration & schools)

it is sad & chilling to know that nearly 2 hours passed by without warning to those victims and other students...
