.com dilution, dot mobi marketing

Is this the time for .mobi?

I live in the real world, and in the real world when people hear .mobi they say "what the hell??"
Hearing "what the hell" from someone is a good thing, when is the last time you heard someone say "what the hell" after you were telling them about another .com ... it would have to be a hell of a good site to get that reaction.
.com has been brain washed into society and has diluted common thinking about the internet. dotmobi not only brings mobility and technology into perspective but it is also shaking up marketing, turning "what the hell is .mobi" into "I know something you don't know" to the mainstream.

Any thoughts or opinions on the marketing of dotmobi?

I haven't updated my cell since I bought the razer when it first came out. What phones are you refering too? I would like to check them out.

Have a look at a few of the sony ericsson handsets - have been able to get proper website rendering on them for a while now ie. p800 / p900 / p910 and recently the p990.

Prior that my Ipaq's and Psions have also had 'proper web' on them for a good few years yet - however they were PDA's and required infra red to dial up with... them were the days

Lots of decent handsets in Europe currently that allow high speed internet and proper site rendering, and over in Australia there is a new 'NextG' technology that is being rolled out with even higher speeds

My opinion is that this thread is going to start another pointless flame war.
