They said March. Tomorrow is the last weekday in March. Usually mTLD makes their announcements durring the work week, and tommorow is the last weekday.

I'm excited. I want to know what companies are in and developing!

But, yes ... successful RFP is VERY IMPORTANT for the "ecosystem", IMHO.

I am very excited to see the results as well.

What I really think MOBI is looking for here is exceptional talent and expertise to help spark interest in the TLD.

The NEWS won't be WHO got the domains as much as HOW AWESOME the websites will be for end users

My hope is the RFP winners will have as great a marketing plan as they do development plan.

Perhaps we should look at this. They are late with the announcement - and the answer received had no firm date for the release (nice though that you got an answer). I suspect there are issues (I am not saying "problems"). When Pinky was here he was notably quiet about the RFP.

While MOBI owners clearly would benefit from the majority of the withheld names being distributed this way, some of the the .mobi corporate owners might prefer the short term profits of auction sales. That would seem foolish, considering the stakes here, but that may be part of the problem.

More likely there is disagreement within .Mobi on how to handle this. It was ambiguous whether the successful companies would be asked to pay for the names. It was not stated what the criteria would be, and if .mobi would retain the right to remove the name if, for example, the site is not developed or is not acceptable.

This has not been done before, it is perhaps understandable there would be delays. To the extent precedent is being set for the other names, it is a good thing if they take the time needed to do it right.

I fully agree with Jeff's oft stated point that to a large degree the future of the extension depends on what happens with the withheld names. And I really wish Pinky would come back so we could drive that point home. We do not need more pizza.mobis that lead nowhere.

Agreed, and your point that there may be some disagreement (or at least, some ambiguity) within mTLD is something that simply cannot be overlooked, IMHO. I'll be looking for three things to occur in the VERY near future ... in this order of near-term importance for our community ... 1.) exact details on the four RFP's by 3/31 ... 2.) details of sales, and to whom and why, from the most recent Traffic show by 4/3 ... and 3.) since you folks and Namepros™ have fully supported mTLD, a lengthy and candid visit from Mr. Pinky by, say, 4/10!

When a trusted company gives a deadline to the public and are not able to keep to that deadline, and if the company had made no public indication that they were not going to meet the deadline ... then they can no longer be trusted with future deadlines. IMHO

The .mobi organization delayed the initial response to rfp. It's either low interest or very selective. Based on their solid performance at the recent traffic auction plus the visa investment, it appears they can be wait.

I'm looking forward to it. Have weathermap.mobi, weathermaps.mobi. Be glad to discuss with a party who comes in second in the bid for weather.
