I don't even want to carry something the size of a PDA around, let alone something that big. I'm sure there are millions of people who would love something like that but it won't be on my Christmas list. I also think it is an ugly unit. Looks like a shotty prototype to me.

the size presents a challenge to mobi developers because it might be small enough that users would be drawn to mobi sites but it's a lot larger than a nokia flip phone so it will be a challenge for mobi developers to come up with the right amount of content

Yes, a free mini laptop would be nice My preference would be for one with an apple logo on it but I think that is called the iPhone.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/302994-soooooooo-nice-but-sooooooooo-expensive.html

As a gadget nut, I love seeing all the different approaches to getting computers more mobile. Billions of dollars have been and continue to be invested to produce hardware, software and network services to expand the user base of mobile computing and mobile internet use. Though I have been flamed for saying it before, I love seeing so much money being invested to expand the primary user base of .mobi, that being mobile internet users. Certainly devices like this one are not what mTLD had in mind when they think of mobile web use, but I doubt I will see a flipstartpc (or an iphone) being offered for $19.95 with a 2-year contract any time soon.

i think you are probably right but i would like to ask pinky brand what they conceived of as the mobi "target" devices
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=302994

if mobi could become synonomous with "lean, fast, quick loading, well designed and easy to use" i could see a lot of devices that are shading up into the range of this device starting to depend on mobis ...though i realize that it is probably large large enough to use the full web w/o too much hassle

Ohh that's nice. That is exactly what I want when I upgrade. It is also what I have in mind when I think about what the average mobile web user will be using 1-2 years from now. For me that is about as big of a device I want to tote around with me (if it was just a tad smaller, that would be even better).

yea i saw that .. it's pretty cool... the fact that the mobile internet is exploding and .mobi (right or wrong) should ride the coattails all the way to the bank!
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=302994

there's going to be so much talk of the mobile web in the months to come.. a mention of .mobi here, promotion of a developed .mobi there and it'll become common place.
