Had an offer via sedo of $500. what are peoples thoughts on this ? I'm not too sure how I can develop this which is why I am swayed to letting it go. Obviously downloads/ringtones could be an angle but other than that not sure what to do with it. It is too low a value to let it go ? Should I hold onto it ?
I agree...don't even go to auction with it. Take that money and reinvest! I don't think the name has much more value (and very possibly less) than that anyway...
If the buyer has made a Sedo offer that meets the seller's price expectation, the seller has little to lose by sending it to auction. A few downsides exist, but they are reasonably small --the auction will delay the immediate transaction at least seven days, and auction bidders may be less reliable than the initial bidder.
Depending on the person making the offer, you do risk alienating the buyer by going to auction with it. Technically, it's a binding offer they've made, but due to the way Sedo's auctions work, buyers aren't always aware of the fact that their "binding" offer can then be sent to auction.
So I'm just saying that there's potential for a deadbeat buyer in the process. Not necessarily, of course, but I think with a $500 offer on that name, you should maintain the goodwill and go with it. You're not likely to have anyone bid the name up in an auction, in my opinion.
Take the cash, but what I do is send my offers to auction and advertise all my other domains for sale on the listing- my auction last week jibr.com had almost 300 potential buyers checking out my other domains for sale. By doing this I have had a sale everyweek for the last 5 weeks. Just a thought...
good luck-

Took this on board and put it to auction listing some of my others up on Sedo. It seems that Sedo offers no real protection from time wasting bidders so I have nothing to lose going this route. The current bidder might be a time waster anyway. If it was x,xxx figure then I probably would take the money and run.I can take a gamble with $500 as I only paid a reg fee in the first place so it's not that I've lost $500.
