What's The Cellphone Input Method of the Future?

a lot will hinge on this, many (including me) are buying names based on where they fall on the traditional phone keypad

but if qwerty or voice input become popular all bets are off

for example i don't see how typos are worth the investment when people are using voice input or predictive text

any predictions on what we will be using by, say, this time 2009 ?

qwerty will become popular very soon i think, voice will eventually but it will take a little longer to become standard on all phones.

Does Dvorak have any thoughts on the subject? I don't know if he is still influential toward web development but I seem to recall he invented an alternative to the QWERTY keyboard layout awhile back.

Edit: gotta learn to spell qwerty lol...

newton

very interesting

i have to believe that this will be just like the iphone and samsung's new phone and many others that have the slideout keyboard

this will be the phone of choice for web oriented people

but i still believe there will be a lot of people that want to "carry small"

how many of them are out there and what will they be using?

Keypad and mice will stay forever, because

we all really don't want to hear every minute somebody yelling in to a machine something like "call Daisy", "get Algernon Pinkerwinkle", "Ring WallMart Washington", or "just dial "xxx-xxx-xxxxx".

Thinking GLobally

Welcome to domaining,

You have all assembled here for one reason that has attracted you here.. that you may or may not be aware of - the domain name

The domain name?

Yes, the domain name..

The domain name will dictate what and how anything will be typed in the mobile phone for all future trends.

So, what happens with domaining globally will be transforming how and what is ever typed in..

The domain name is the central point of all communication.. "prefix.suffix"
When can this ever become obsolete?
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/296235-whats-the-cellphone-input-method-future.html

Yes you have come to the right place, you are investing in the hottest real estate game ever.. internet real estate (as long as ICANN holds par)

Happy whois friends.

Kind Regards,

Yelo

The latest keypads seem to be going towards raised letter keys in betwen the standard number pad. I'm not sure yet of the layout, qwerty or other, but if you think of the standard 3x3+1 number pad, at each intersection and at the edges you could have a raised single letter key. Together with folding screens, this could be the next iteration.

That’s great advancement for regular phones , I thought of a similar method a few months ago back in this thread:
