Ringostarr thought enough of .mobi to sue to get the domain ringostarr.mobi

This is great news considering that all other major extensions for RingoStarr (.net, .org, .info, .biz, .co.uk) are owned and parked by other people

Great news for .mobi, but bad news for the current registrant.

Accordingly, it is Ordered that the <ringostarr.mobi> domain name be TRANSFERRED from Respondent to Complainant.
Well, lets just hope that Ringo Starr's people sued the previous owner with the intention of actually developing ringostarr.mobi, not just for the sake of suing and protecting their trademark.

the defense might be all the other extensions that are parked, and why hasn't he gone after those too? will be interesting to see the decision. if you are a celebrity these days, or even think of becoming one, you need to reg your name in the extensions you think are important! Someone should set up a celebrity domain business where celebrities could pay them to stay on top of such things.

Ringo knows what cool is.

I was inspired by Ringo and became a drummer. Way back when, I remember how he would bop his head to the side when he played drums and that was so unique back then. I imitate that almost every time I am keeping beat to a great song while driving. Thanks Ringo!

Ringo probably does not even know about this as his marketing and pr gurus are on top of everything.

Who really cares? If the original registrant had bad faith they deserve to lose the name, doesnt matter what ringo intends to do with it.. If im ever famous and some idiot reg'd something that is mine and i can prove it was bad faith, you bet your ass i'd steal it back from them and just park it.. its a two way street.. everyone should play as fair as possible. that said, its pretty interesting that ringo is actually interested in ringostarr.mobi and not any of the other extentions..

Where do you get this statement from? They are protecting what they should, tommorow they may file for the .com, .net, .org and everything else they can, it is not about what they know which pertains to them going after their name.

or they dont care..... sends a pretty powerful message about .mobi if they never go after the other extentions.. mobi may just have all the "clout" it needs with 800-pound guerilla's Microsoft, Google, etc having their names simply tacked onto PR pieces about the TLD everywhere.

They won't have gone after it just because they really wanted the .MOBI. I suspect that it is only because, someone, most likely a squatter has got the name on the landrush and offered it to them for money.

This will give them a solid case which is almost guaranteed to allow them to win the name.

I think for bands etc. having the capability to offer their ringtones/songs downloaded would be big business in the future.

First who registered that awful domain anyways? It's really worthless for the extension.

Second - he didn't think anything of .mobi - why should he? He and his people are doing nothing more than protecting their intellectual property rights. If I was the person squatting on the .net etc I would be getting prepared to give the domain up.

As someone else mentioned - it probably came to their attention when the .mobi owner tried to foist it on them.

wrong, you're making definitive statements, i for one would like to know how you know.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=294991

i have no idea why ringo is going after this domain, maybe he was contacted by the seller, maybe it's just part of the protection services, maybe he saw what weiwei was doing and thought cool, i'd like to do that, maybe he's just bored and likes to spend his time in litigations?
