Thinking of registering more .mobi domains - how many is enough??

I'm thinking of registering more .MOBI domains but can't decide how many is enough. It's tempting to register more since the registration term went down to 1 year but I know that in 1 year (some are 2 years), I will need to pay for another year for each of the domains. I probably have around 20 right now. Some are for selling (hopefully) and others are for developing. I'm concerned that if I buy too many then I won't be able to pay for the renewals. I would say i'm at my limit now unless I can sell some of them within the year. Does anyone think that the .mobi's will have a big explosion within the year? What is everyone else doing? Thanks!!

Dr. Dot Mobi

Hi

New?

Let me diagnose you, you've got the Dot Mobi Syndrome

I've got 248 and it comes down to what you can't NOT buy.

Surrendering

Yelo

Personally I think there is a lot of crap registered lately. Most keyword domains are already gone.
The magic word for the .mobi world is: developing. The more common .mobi sites will become, the more value the extension gets..

I personally don't believe in .mobi parking....and I also don't believe in domains like GambleCasinoPahrump.mobi ......domains with more than 2 keywords...

But still...that's only my opinion...

Martin (Developing and patience are the key words)

Seriously

Hi again,

Just joking earlier.. Sorry..

It comes down to what you want for your life.

Some of us have not yet gotten that really special domain that we hope to transform our lives with yet. So, as the Dot Mobi treasure chest closes.. then get ready to make your final grabs.

Yes it is all about the two worder game lately in this stage of the draft. Now, there are still some one worders out there.. just got turmeric.mobi. But the two worders is where the game is.. I suggest combining keywords with viable suffixes. I can say "still look for good Dot Mobi domains in the whois" because I just found a piece in "PDANews.mobi".

Now, if you can't find much in keyword type in domains, then try to draft domains according to what you want to do in life. Your niches and your hopes and your reading of trends in your specialty. Lifestyle..

I think you answered your own question. If you can't afford more, it's probably not a wise decision to solicit opinions as to 'why you should buy more!' You know your financial position. I'd suggest that you go thru the names you have already, start a sell/develop plan, and go from there. Also, unless you buy an aftermarket name, there's not too many nuggets to be found, so choose any new regs wisely.

If you can afford to buy it now and you think the name is good then buy it. If it comes up for renewal and you cant afford to renew it then you should sell. Good luck!

Yes be careful and wise..

Especially for a newbie, with a syndrome like Dot Mobi it really comes down to:

It is not "what you buy". It is what "what you DON'T buy".. and occasionally mixed with "what you should have bought by now (and it is still available)".

Thanks for all the great information! I do agree that I probably won't buy any more domains for now. I chose most of my domains very carefully, selecting the best ones that I could see myself developing. I do have the .MOBI bug

Does anyone have any comments about when/if there will be a big jump in .mobi sales? You know, the other people that haven't got the bug yet. I would guess when there are more high priced auctions and more marketing campaigns by larger companies.

Congratulations my friend, I think you just coined the next phrase for the Mobile Internet Revolution history - the "Dot Mobi Bug"

What has been happening in its small scope has been viral globally. As more people get the Dot Mobi bug, the faster and higher the values of our Dot Mobi Internet Real Estate will rise.

I am up to around 500 mobi names. Buy now and worry about renewing later. You never know what you might sell in the next year. one decent sale can pay for all your renewals.
