In the case of Mobi it's pretty simple. It will determine the success or failure of Mobi. Developed will bring success, parked will bring failure. I'm hoping the majority is developed.
Good assessment. I doubt we'll see a majority of development any time soon, I just hope that parking pages are blocked from search engine results for the next 5 years or so, so users don't keep seeing the same crap over and over again, plus the links mostly go to non .mobi compliant sites.
That's actually a great idea, users should not have parked pages as results in search engines while mobi is starting up. I'm going to be honest by saying I'll probably only develop a quarter of my sites initially. Once advertising really starts flowing and their are visitors I'll develop the rest of my pages.
Yes, with the amount of Dot Mobis we registered it will take time for full development.
Parking is better than an empty site..
Building towers on your land as a growing traffic site is better than building a capped parking lot on your land.
Part of the lack of development with Dot Mobi (and domains in general) is many don't know how to program; or, in Dot Mobi's case, be xhtml-mp compliant.. and to hire one of these sites' developer can be a costly ongoing expense.
That is why blogging, with a WordPress template, is easy for the average Joe:
(Please see the thread I have already made for discussing this further.)
I have built a .mobi search engine. It's full of developed dot-mobi sites that are spidered for content updates. Of course, my drive for such a project was because the horde of parked pages. I thought it would be nice for developed dot-mobi sites to have a home away from the parked horde. I'm no Google but it's a start and the project has been fun just for the challenge of it.
