In regard to pay per click income, I know that Stocks.mobi would come out ahead due to the higher $ per bid. This said, my brother works for Verizon Wireless and was telling me that they offer a Music Video Downloading service and they charge $3.00 a pop.
Lastly, I have submitted MusicVideos.mobi to be auctioned at the next TRAFFIC auction in March. How do you think it will fare?
Some .mobi investors have some very good names. A few have "category killers" like musicvideos.mobi & stocks.mobi (a few others come to mind as well).
Obviously, each investor has their own goals, skills, & financial situation. Were I in possession of either MusicVideos.mobi or stocks.mobi, I would find a way to develop the name. Perhaps there aren't many viable ways to effectively monetize the name... yet. Give the market time. If .mobi sees consumer adoption the monthly income from a well developed mobile site on a strong keyword name could easily be more than what you sell it for now... and you still to keep to asset.
Again, if .mobi sees consumer adoption and you are in possession of MusicVideos.mobi at that time, there is little doubt that companies with deep pockets will come knocking at your door.
** The risk, of course, is that .mobi flops with consumers & the names are relegated to the equivalent of a .crud in regard to resale value.
Regardless of where, when, or if it is sold, I wish you the best with it.
compubahn, I value your opinion and thank you for taking the time to post in this thread.
Being that I have already signed on the dotted line, MusicVideos.mobi will be sold at the next TRAFFIC auction. What does everybody think the final bid price will be?
Unless you've heard otherwise, they haven't officially chosen the names for the auction yet...it'll probably be announced some time next week. And even then, you will be able to pull the name if you change your mind...in case you rethink your position on what you want to do with it...
my only suggestion is don't sell it short - be sure your reserve is set accordingly. like others have said if the right folks aren't apart of this paticular auction it won't get the $ it deserves and although a huge development undertaking, this is the type of domain that could have a huge income flow month in and month out.

my only concern about this great name is that to download musicvideos will tke bandwidth and $ at the moment ...so it's time hasn't totally come yet as compared to a name that just deals with text data...like finding a restaurant...that said, your own financial situation dictates your reserve...if "I" owned it I wouldn't sell it for less than 50k and would be hoping to get 50-100k ...imho

I agree with dentalpro and a few others, that if you haven't set a high reserve of at least 50K, that you will have squandered a great name and opportunity on this name. It's way too early in the .mobi game to be setting this name out to sea now, compared to it's 'sailing' potential in just a few years and even longer. Even if .mobi doesn't pan out to what we see and hope to see in it, these are top keywords and products, and will fetch at least 50K down the line. IMO. Even selling stocks.mobi now is premature, but with hanogl's other names, he'll do very well in the longer run. To the both of you, I wish the best on these names. (personally, I'd pull it off and wait)
One of the reason's Frank's invest.mobi, did better that Jeremy's save.mobi, is that Frank promoted the hell out of it, to endusers, brokers, etc. So if you do proceed, you should get some promo tips from him.
Mmmm...those two can't be compared...2 totally different markets...
Both great names...but if i have to choose...Stocks is the better one
Shorter..
The information is quicker (don't know the english word for it..every second it's different) so people have to check it more frequent
Cheaper (when bandwidth is involved)
I guess you are trying to say that stock indormation is more "volatile". That is indeed a big plus for stocks.mobi On the other hand there are probably more people tinerested in music videos than there are in stocks. Both have there chances, but I would prefer the stocks.
hanogl, I was a licensed trader for 4 years and absolutely love your Stocks.mobi domain.
I noticed that you got a lot of positive feedback about your domain in another thread and figured that this thread would be fun place for friendly discussions in regard to our domains.
I am still looking for additional suggestions regarding a sensible reserve price for MusicVideos.mobi.
DomainJedi, the answer to your query for 'sensible reserve pricing' for your domain is, in all reality, quite simple - what is the least you can you live with if it sells in today's market?!? Various NPers' have offered advice on reserves etc., and they can go on and on, or up and down. However, once it's sold, it's gone! So again, what is the least you can live with, selling it today!??!
(remember, if it doesn't make your threshold, you can try again down the line.)
I'm sure you could get a lot more for it if you waited for just the right buyer to come along, but if it were mine and I was auctioning it at TRAFFIC next month, I'd probably set a reserve of $35,000. I'm not saying that's how much it's worth, but at this point in .mobi history, I'd be happy with that. But that's just me...
That's the kind of thinking I use as well. I have set a reserve price on stocks.mobi of 60K (including commissions) because that will net me 50K. Of course I hope and expect (much) more, but 50K would the minimum that I could feel okay with to part with this domain.
For Musicvideos I would probably have set a reserve of 15K or 20K, and then see where it goes.
After reading this thread, communicating with Moniker and a lot of Jedi meditation, I have set a reserve price and am sticking with my decision.
Although I have not been officially told that MusicVideos.mobi has made the final list, I have read between the lines and let's just say that everything appears to be a go.
I thank all of you for your advise/insight/opinions etc... You add so much value to this forum!
