ParisFrance.mobi - Should I Sedo auction it?

I've never done a Sedo auction. Sedo have suggested a mid $XXX reserve on a potential auction of ParisFrance.mobi. I had asked for substantially more.

The name, I believe, has top international appeal as the mobile tourist destination/info portal for Paris ... albeit my development of the name is basic. Both "Paris" and "France" are registry reserved ... thus making this the premium choice for Paris.

I would appreciate input from Namepros members on whether the low reserve would cause you to seek a different format. Feedback, pros and cons of Sedo auction, or tips for gaining good exposure will be helpful. If anyone feels the Sedo format is not the best choice, I would definitely like to hear about that. Thanks to those who might offer their advice.

Please feel free to provide your most conservative estimate of what the name may bring.

IMHO, this is a fantastic name that may be worth holding onto for a while. Currently, there is little to no precedent of CityCountry.mobis sales, so gauging a price is difficult. (It would be nice if someone can point to any sales of these types of .mobi. I couldn't find any on Namebio or elsewhere.)

On the other hand, country .mobis are clearly an attractive commodity, and it may be worthwhile to launch an auction in proximity to the end of SouthKorea.

As to the reserve, this seems reasonable. I honestly think it will go for more than $XXX.

Hold it, great name.
I actually think you'll get more people typing that in actually looking for info, sightseeing, flights, hotels etc
The worry is if you type in Paris, you might get that freak Paris Hilton. lol
Don't listen to sedo, they are weird on reserves on mobis. Keep it.
Only one person can buy Paris.mobi & France.mobi, obviously, yours is next best Carlton.
Also sedo is patrolled mainly by resellers. I'm sure a reseller would pay very low $xxxx for it, but an enduser may well pay high $xxxx, poss. more
cheers
Arnie

Sedo cares about Sedo, not you. They care more about volume of sales rather than maximizing each individual sale. ParisFrance is a great name. Stick to your guns and get the reserve you want.

This is the second time I have seen that Sedo recommend a reserve on a domain name. Is this because you have an account manager or something ? All I see is that you can pay to have your domain appraised ?

You can write Sedo with your request for a "broker sponsored auction" (the link). If they like the name, they'll respond with what they think is a fair reserve. Then it's up to you to decide if you'd like to proceed. Which is my situation presently on ParisFrance.mobi.

I think you would do better seling it on a forum like this than sedo at the moment...as someone said...mostly resellers trolling sedo...you obviously know how to develope geo domains so I would say dev it at the least and then if you put it up for sale it carries more clout...imo

Too early to sell.
Dev or Hold.
You won't get the mid $XX,XXX that a name like this should bring in.

Either way... good luck.

I want to thank everyone for taking the time to post. The feedback here and on another forum has been interesting. On Namepros, the price estimates have been fairly distributed ...

Less than $1000 (40%)
$1000 - $5000 (40%)
$5000 - $10,000 (16%)
> $10,000 (1 vote)

The other forum, which I'll playfully name "The dotcom tunnel of darkness", , voted mostly thumbs down (no surprise since most everything noncom gets trash talked there). However, some good feedback came from posters in both forums.

Namepros has a great energy and openness to emerging opportunities ... which makes this a refreshing place to chat ideas.

Decision: Going to hold ParisFrance.mobi

it can be mobi rough there!

I think holding it for now is a wise decision. Besides you're pretty good at developing city/state names, so you could make this a very good one. GL.

One of best things about this domain is that it is multilingual as well. It is spelt the same in both home language and english, not a fact with all citycountry domains in a foreign language.
