U-T.mobi

I just saw that u-t.mobi is now in a Sedo auction -- for $3000! This is great news for anyone who picked up an L-L.mobi!

I did a WHOIS on it, and sure enough, it belongs to one of our own. (I'll let him step forward himself.) I'd love to hear more about how you got an offer that large -- whether you were approached or if you hunted down some potential end-users...

Maybe someone has decided to corner the market on L-L.mobi's I've had 2 offers @ Afternic today. I regged 4 L-L mobi's with important combo's.

Of course it could be that someone just really wants U-T
  • Univerity fo Texas (Best looking girls in the country)
  • University of Tennessee
  • Ugly T**s
  • Unreal Tournament
  • Universal Time (bingo)

Ahhhh one of my offers was from a fellow NP'er

L-L's are very valuable. They are short, rare, and easy to remember.
I own: G-O.mobi, D-O.mobi, V-U.mobi, V-J.mobi and N-N.mobi's like 0-1.mobi,
1-0, 2-0, and 3-0.mobi. Domainers are crazy for selling these for less than $XXXX. I'm hanging onto mine for the big offers. Why sell cheap and lower the value of the rest of the L-L's and N-N.mobi's that other domainers own. This sale will increase the value of L-L and N-N.mobi's
Short is sweet.

p.s. Good Luck to whomever is selling this name.

you also have to remember though that even L-L.com names arent worth all that much especially considering how long .com has been out. I do have some L-L and N-N mobi names though.

However, I think that's partly because LL.com names exist. Since there are no LL.mobi names, I think there's potential for L-L.mobi to be seen that way.

H&M, in case you haven't heard the name, is a huge international department store chain. Going to H-M.mobi for now only redirects to their .COM, but nonetheless, I don't think you can say that there's no chance for L-L.mobi names to be valuable down the road.

the winning bidder is the SanDiego Union-Tribune, which is the 25th largest newspaper in the United States according to subscriptions.

their current mobi site (which appears to be only for testing purposes right now) is SignOn.mobi, i imagine they wanted u-t.mobi for a nice short domain for their newspaper, which by the way has about 400,000 subscribers. their .com site is: SignOnSanDiego.com

some of the major newspapers actually use hyphens pretty often, here is a list of the top 100 in the usa:
