But just as the nuclear carrier George H.W. Bush is the end of the line for Nimitz-class warships - which first took to sea in 1975, the same year Bill Gates and Paul Allen started Microsoft - it may be time for Microsoft to say hasta la vista to big, multiyear, complex software projects. It has to move faster to keep up with changes in today's computing world, where more people will link to the Internet through cell phones than through desktop PCs. |
