When I hear e-rate I think of the government funded program for school internet access. What is it supposed to be for?

I'm not a big fan of hyphens, especially the "e-keyword, or i-keyword". I just don't see value in them. If it was real-estate or something like that, then maybe. But not the "e- or i-" , it is just too much of a stretch.
