I have to admit that I was incredibly hyped about the auction but it really failed to bring as much action as we hoped. You're all on the ball with your responses.
I think many of these domains should be in the upcoming TRAFFIC auction. That's where I expect the real money to fly around.
Besides MOBI not making any real sales I was actually bummed about Porn.com passing. It's such an incredible name. If I had the cash at hand it would be a no brainer. The internet is here forever, .com will be standard on PC's for at least 10 more years. How could you pass up Porn.com? You would make your investment back and much more if willing to wait a few years.
Its just the beginning, relax and enjoy your mobis next year you have your money in no time... play with your domains let them grow some before you kick them out of the house mate... hehe
dotMobi is a coming hit

I don't miss the bashing but I miss the excitement ( I know it's only been a day). We are all really addicted to MOBI. I check these forums nonstop, I check yahoo news, google news, the MOBI Blog and News, Domainstate, DNForum, and look at my admob stats so many times everyday.
It's hard to imagine what it would be like back in the mid 90s owning so many generic .com names. Probably similar to MOBI but you would be so much more unsure of yourself. There were far fewer .com supporters back then and then internet was no where from being realized.
Back in 94 my Grandfather bought alot of good generic and XXX domains (a couple hundred). He sold them a few years later for under $100k. If he held onto those domains to this day he would have at least $20 million worth of domains. I was too young to realize anything about the potential in domain names back then though.
MOBI may now be our key to ultimate success. I was driving my car today trying to use the net on my phone. I had access to full web pages but I realized while driving I didn't want to navigate through everything. I really want content on the run. MOBILE content. I had a true enlightening moment and realized MOBI is necessary and will eventually become very widely known.
I have been told that all the names that they didn't have time to sell with the live auction are being put in the silent acuction. Buyers can bid on them all week.
My rep told me that adult market buyers are very discreet and will PREFER the silent auction. I am hoping that he is correct. I have 11 names listed at low reservers for Moniker's show, and I sure hope that was not a mistake.
Thanks thinking1 for the inspiring thoughts. Thank you also Jim also for the larger perspective insight as well.

Yes my life has also changed much in terms of mental occupation since DotMobi came into my life. Thankful for this forum whereby I can relate to others thinking the same ways. Of course, one thing keeping me on the straight path is prayers..
Yes DotMobi opens up many angles in terms of possibilities for success.. who knows which ones will shine first as stepping stones for us.. I say still play the whois game at this point.. if not for yourself, for others you want to give to later.. also, if you haven't done so yet, draft domains according to the lifestyle you want to live.. what do you want to be doing in life?
DotMobi is so exciting, life is getting better every day for me and I am happy to be still waking up every morning into it.
fyi - I learned today that bidding on virgins.mobi went up to $17,000, but that didn't fulfill the sellers' reserve price. Also the bidding on porn.com went to $5 million and that too did not meet the sellers' reserve price.
being totally honest, the .mobis that made the auction were not that great IMHO.
virgins.mobi i expected to go high, and maybe $17K bid would have been a nice sale, ... girls.mobi and cams.mobi too (easy 5 fig.), but porn.mobi, ass.mobi (and actually more vulgar) ect... to have had a bigger impact.
don't get me wrong some of the names are decent are are definitely 4-5 figure potentials, but they weren't the top top

Yes, maybe this was also in the minds of the adult conference attendees new to Dot Mobi. They desired instead for those great one words generics, little did they know that most of those names are reserved premiums by the registry; and if they go home to the whois they'll be seeing that the "best of the rest" is actually scarce and hard to come by.
Thanks for that info Michael. I was under the impression that virgins.mobi did not get any bids. I feel much better knowing that it nearly reached its reserve price.
I'm willing to bet that the bidding was better than the results imply, though -- not just for mobi, but for all the extensions there. I have a feeling that the real roadblock to nice final sales at this auction was that too many people set their reserves very (probably unrealistically) high.
-Virgins.mobi had bids up to $17K but the reserve was too high. Other premium names like girls.mobi and bl*wjobs.mobi had 100K+ reserves and mostly likely did not sell b/c of these high reserves. There is record of domains numbered 1 thru 51 that DID recieve bids but failed to meet reserve (Virgins.mobi being one. Privacy.com and Fetish.com had bids in mid 6-figures but also failed to meet reserve). Domains #52-#295 are a mystery for now but there's no doubt that girls and bl*wjobs got higher bids than $17K. I'll keep you posted
-The majority of the people at the auction had never heard of .mobi. But after hearing 44 being auctioned and several getting bids in the $X,XXX-$XX,XXX range, they are at least now aware of this extension
-This was 1st adult domain auction and sales were weak across all extensions (.com, .net, .mobi, etc).. but sales were better than the first two TRAFFIC auctions
Bottom line: Reserves were too high. Even Porn.com had bids up to $5 million but failed to sell due to the high reserve
UPDATE: Rick Schwartz has confirmed that other .mobi's did in fact get higher bids. MUCH higher. One received a bid for $25K, another for $35K, and another for nearly $100K! I don't have info at this time on which names received these bids but these were the mobi's with the highest reserves (all are now at the silent auction):
