I just read the article. It's incredible that any one of us could have registered that name for $30 on that day and we could have possibly sold it for that much.

But.... I can't be too upset because I was never searching for that name anyway. I know some of you are probably punching yourselves in the head tho.

Amazing!

I'm sure there will still be some whispers about the buyer and seller being in cahoots on the deal to inflate .Mobi values overall, but having Duke/DNJ verify and publish this is the closest thing we have to witnessing the transaction in person, and should put to rest most of the doubters, because he's a man of honor and unquestionable character, and he would not print the story unless he himself was convinced of it's authenticity.

I say again... amazing!

It is a term used to bet on sports here in the US and probably other countries.

It is a very well known term for people that do bet on sports, and a perfect name for such a site.

Yeah I know. I just wish/hope that it is an end user. If it is, that is a very positive sign for the extension.

For the record, and to be totally honest, I was as skeptical as anybody here. I just didn't express those feelings in public.

Now I can only say, wow!

Gotta be an end user, there are plenty of places around where one can bet on sports. Having lived in Vegas, there are quite some places named "Sportsbook" and i would guess that, if a Vegas resort has bought the domain, that they will make decent use of it and get their cash back in less than no time.

Amazing Sale, makes me wanna bite my a$$ not having bought any .mobi(s)

I guess, friends, let's keep our mobile eyes on the .MOBI domains that have sold ... and look for developing / developed sites!

I agree that exchanges between domainers, parked pages, and the like, long-term, may not be as positive for the future of the extension, IMHO.

Very weak theory in my opinion. For starters to do this you would have to have $130,000 in cash on hand to send to escrow.com. Then you would have to pay the $1,155 escrow fee on that amount - which you don't get back (and you would have to hope that your cohort doesn't take off with your $130,000 when he gets the money - not a good bet if the person was dishonest enough to be part of a scam to begin with!)
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=282263

In addition, I think the last thing the buyer wanted to do was inflate .mobi values. The buyer was still looking to buy other domains when this deal was done. To be honest, I am puzzled by this kind of money being thrown at a new unproven extension, but I do not doubt that this sale was on the level.

Yeah I am glad that Duke did the proper investigation before releasing the news. Congrats to all...I was convinced early on but then a couple red flags went up that made me skeptical. In all honesty...I am glad to be wrong and to see a domainer make money. This is incredible news for mobi and domaining in general. As a former mobi nay-sayer I have to be at awe now for the extension.

As Duke wrote..the "isolated incident" theory of flowers.mobi is now totally blown away. What's next is anyones guess imho.

The power of keywords. "Sports Book" said it all for the buyer. Presently, I'm counting 44 dotMobi's for the Live Auction tomorrow. Should be interesting.

Personally, I believe the rising tide lifts all boats and these type sales/news create broader interest in domaining across the board. Which is good for all of us.
