![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | KeywordTV.mobi-Please Read Why.... Lately I have been speculating a certain niche in .mobi that I would like to share with the forum. As you can see from my signature, my extension of choice is .TV, however I do see a niche in .mobi that similiar but for mobile phones. It is a known fact that video/tv capabilities are extending to the cellphone. It is very likely we will begin to see programming, channels, video feeds and television coming to mobile phones. While everyone is regging any keyword.mobi I think one should sit down and think of the real uses that people will be using a pda/cellphone for.....ie weather, stocks, traffic, restaurants, etc Outside of these types of generics there are still some decent keywordTV.mobi domains available and were not held back as premium by the registry. However, they are disapppearing very quick and nonone is talking about it. So here I am wanting a discussion about it. Streaming media is here to stay and will only get better. KeywordTV.mobi and KeywordChannel.mobi will be huge, imo. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/276454-keywordtv-mobi-please-read-why.html Please share your thoughts on this topic, bad or good. I have had much interest in many keywordtv.mobis that I own so I can say first hand that there is a lot of interest in them. Trying searching for some and see if you can find any available. You will have to dig to find a worthy one, but it will be worth the effort

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ok, check this out: Global Mobile Media Spending Will Approach $100 Billion By 2011, Says Acacia Research Group Acacia Research Group - January 18, 2007 Media for mobile devices will generate $98.6 billion worldwide by 2011, according to Acacia Research Group’s latest market study on personal media distribution. To put this context, this revenue figure is larger than 2006 worldwide box office receipts, packaged audio sales, or basic pay TV subscriptions. By 2011, the number of media-capable mobile devices worldwide -- including media phones, personal media players, and handheld gaming devices -- will have grown to more than 3.2 billion. Total device shipments will near a record 1.1 billion that year. Media-enabled phones will lead the way, with more than 2.2 billion handsets capable of advanced audio playback, 1.2 billion video-capable handsets, and 1.1 billion 3D-enabled handsets in use worldwide by 2011. Personal audio and video players will reach more than 835 million and handheld gaming devices will top 239 million that year. "Some say that multipurpose devices, such as media phones, will push dedicated media devices out of the market. This will never happen," said Acacia Senior Analyst Christine Arrington. "There will always be room in the mobile space for devices that focus exclusively on delivering one or two forms of entertainment - because these devices have been, and will continue to be, better at what they do than multipurpose systems." Audio downloads and subscriptions will generate $33.1 billion and video content will contribute $26.5 billion annually by 2011. Game publishers and distributors will net $25.4 billion from downloaded and packaged mobile games and content that year. And, by 2011, mobile pay TV subscriptions will be worth an estimated $13.4 billion annually. ,/p> "Platform-appropriate must become a buzzword in the mobile media space," said Arrington. "Realizing the true potential of mobile media will require device manufacturers, content producers and distributors, and service operators to develop specialized, and even wholly new, technologies, media formats, and distribution methods to take full advantage of the distinctive qualities of the mobile entertainment experience. " About the market research study Acacia Research Group's 100+ page report, "Mobile Media 2006: The Future of Personal Media Distribution", addresses critical issues in the new world of mobile media distribution. This market study covers trends in device configuration, wireless operator technology, and content development. Devices covered in the report include mobile phones, media phones, personal media players, and handheld gaming devices. Forecasts include video, audio, broadcast radio and TV, satellite radio, still image, and 3D acceleration. Also included are forecasts for revenue generated from audio, video, and game downloads and subscriptions.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | MobiTV Preps for U-verse FEBRUARY 01, 2007 MobiTV Inc. says it's working with AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T - message board) to bring the U-verse IPTV service to "the small screen," that is, to mobile phones. Noting that AT&T executives often talk about reaching the "three screens" -- TVs, PCs, and mobile devices -- with their U-verse IPTV service, Light Reading wrote in November that Emeryville, Calif.-based MobiTV was well positioned for the job. (See MobiTV's Next Step Could be U-verse.) MobiTV execs confirmed their company's involvement with U-verse during a Light Reading visit to the company's offices yesterday. Paul Scanlan, a founder of MobiTV and the company's COO, says his company will contribute its own licensed video content and will eventually add in some of the video content from the U-verse package. A MobiTV spokesman says his company and AT&T have been discussing and testing the technology, with no formal contract yet signed. AT&T isn't saying much about it. "We havent announced any plans, and we continue to test IP-enabled applications in our labs," an AT&T spokesman says. "We've said often that one of the benefits of IP as a platform is that you can bridge content to the three screens, and we are looking for ways to do that." That AT&T would use MobiTV to take U-verse mobile isn't altogether surprising. MobiTV is already a partner of both AT&T and Cingular Wireless LLC , of which AT&T took full ownership after merging with BellSouth. MobiTV video became part of Cingular's mMode mobile services 15 months ago. More recently, AT&T announced that MobiTV would power its new broadband video service called AT&T Broadband TV. The service now features about 25 channels of news, sports, and entertainment content and is growing, MobiTV tells Light Reading. (See AT&T Offers Internet TV and Service Station: AT&T's Silly Stream.) ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=276454 AT&T had announced earlier that MobiTV video is available to users of WiFi hotspots. MobiTV licenses and aggregates video content, encodes it and "optimizes" it to display correctly on a variety of mobile devices, hosts it at headend facilities in Sacramento and Denver, and streams it over wireless broadband networks. By providing all that, MobiTV hopes to make it easy for operators to carry the service, Scanlan says. Then MobiTV shares the revenues from subscription and advertising with the operator. In the U.S., MobiTV has also signed customers Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S - message board) and Windstream Supply, Inc. , and it's working with the joint venture of Sprint and four cable MSOs. In the U.K., MobiTV counts 3 and Orange Communications SA as customers. (See MobiTV Joins Cable Squad and MobiTV Tops 1M Subscribers.) MobiTV also appears to be fueling up for more growth. On Nov. 2, the firm announced that Adobe Systems Inc. and Hearst Corp. had added $30 million to a C round of funding, bringing the round to just more than $100 million. (See MobiTV Raises $30M and MobiTV Raises $70M.) The company announced a $15 million B round in August 2004. Scanlan says MobiTV has had profitable quarters in the past, but it remains more focused on growth than on profits for the time being. Mark Sullivan, Reporter,
