![]() ![]() | Look out world, Mobi is coming... http://techdigest.tv/2006/11/uk_mobile_surve.html
![]() This is the trend that I was waiting for. Past history tells us that the "walled garden" can only work for so long before customers start demanding access to more services. This is when the dot mobi real estate becomes more valuable.

I have no doubt the mobile web is coming -- but not sure this extension is the path to it. I imagine kids accessing the web everywhere, as mobile devices become more advanced, and the web adapts to smaller screens. A whole new generation is growing up with technology that we didn't have as kids ourselves. It's "Children of the Web". Maybe Stephen King's next book? I've been quietly gathering some nice .mobi names, and dumping my .mobi mistakes. I feel really good about the names I'm holding now, and have even explored the world of other languages... after all, this is a GLOBAL extension. So, I've got a few K's wrapped up in this new space, and I hope it does well. But I'm cautiously optimistic, and still not convinced it's the answer (to the mobile web), and there's an awful lot of hype right now, which can cloud one's judgment. It's both exciting, and scary at the same time.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It will be an interesting time with tech savvy teenagers demanding open access to the net at a much cheaper rate. I was just reading an interesting article about what's happening in Australia with cheap pricing from vodafone with regards to mobile tv and music downloads http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/December06/4046.htm

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=267803 As far as dot mobi goes, I like to think of it as a new sub-division in a hot real estate market. It might not be the only place to live, but for $25 a lot, it's a great place to put your money.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Canned Provider Content From yesterdays Sunday NY Times, an article in Business on "The Hat Trick That Didnt Happen", and end-of-the year article highlighting 3 areas that held great promise in 2006, and which he suggests... have not panned out. The first two examples refers to the wide use of High Def TV and also to using Avatars online. The third example he gives is Mobile Media, which he says has not amounted to a meaningful new media business - for two "vexing" reasons. The first reason he gives is logistics, and relates to cell networks being individually privately owned....there are 20 phone carriers and 400 models of handsets. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=267803 The second reason that writer Richard Siklos gives has to do with ads that might be 30 second spots or pop-ups or spam....which he calls a can of worms. I just bought a new phone, and the walled networks was something that I wanted to stay away from. I bought a Palm Treo 700P and am finding it very user friendly to access the mobi sites that I want to check out. |

Cramer, which carrier did you go with? And what plan did you figure works best? I'm seeing 20 cents a minute for all carriers on top of the basic or high minute phone call plans with the internet option. Thanks, HasRob........ PS- that is an awesome phone | ||||
