Not that I plan to sell my 3-letter mobis for a while anyway, but if any of these were mine, I wouldn't put a Buy It Now on them. Seeing as it's clear from other recent auctions that people are willing to pay this much anyway, I'd want to see what the current market value really was. I suspect it would be higher than $149...if they have to do a BIN, they should at least try $200.

I was the seller of those auctions, and initially I set a price ranging from $199 to $299, with no bites. I subsequently modified the pricing until I found a price point which people were biting.

Sounds like you're talking about a fixed price or your minimum bid, though, right? I still think it would be interesting (and probably profitable) to set a low minimum bid and let there be a bidding war over it (making sure you end the auction at a good time for one). I suspect it would get up around $200 after all.

Easy for me to say since they're not my domains to risk, I suppose, but still...

Perhaps you are right. Only time, and the market, will tell where .mobi ranks among all extentions. My gut tells me it has some legs, but until that crystal ball shows up on my front door, I'm going to have to defer to the old adage, you can't go broke making a profit.
