Good cust service and value but domain management is weak

They have great prices for registering 25+ (unbeatable actually) but their domain management software is a little weak. Must manage domains one at a time. Cust service answers pretty quick and they say that bulk management is coming but no date estimate given.

Excellent registrar! Definately the best UK-based one out there.

Why lie about Dot TV backorder service?

I can't understand why Domainmonster claims to offer Dot TV backorder service yet has to my knowledge never caught a Dot TV domain. Steer clear.

Have you contacted support to discuss the backorder issue? If not, I'd be really grateful if you could please drop us a line at support@domainmonster.com with one of the names you back ordered so I can look into it.

Clearly we want to make sure we catch your names. If we don't, we don't get paid, that's how our backorder service works. I wont abuse this thread with stats and statistics on what we do catch, I simply want to assure you, that if you get in touch, I will ensure its investigated thoroughly and if its a specific issue I'll tell you. Equally if we can make improvements, I'll tell you that too; along with what and when!

We genuinely pride ourselves on awesome customer service and a 1st class product. Its devastating to read a post as drastic as this. Rest assured I will take this up myself, find out the detail, listen AND make sure we improve upon that feedback...quickly! I'll make sure the support team look out for you contact and forward it on.

I've recently put a few names with them and so far their service has been very good. Their customer service, it has to be said, was far superior than almost every other registrar I've dealt with.

I would like to give them much more business (as I believe many others who have .TV names would) but would like to hear feedback from others who have had names with them for longer than a few weeks.

I wanted to know if transferring a domain to domainmonster is free? I was planning to get all my domains to one or two places as its getting difficult to manage now.

I ordered a .uk domain using Domainmonster.com's backorder service. They failed to catch it yet I was able to register it with a different registrar after it dropped. Then two days later I get an email from Domainmonster.com trying to bill me for the domain they are saying they have caught for me.

How can they say they have managed to register a domain with their backorder service when they clearly haven't!

I caught one that I had at name and domainmonster... though this appears to be a rarity now with the increased numbers of people providing backorders.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=236794

I do know DM did beat Snapnames on a few domains recently so that's not too bad - it does work. It's hard to know why they seem to fail and succeed without knowing what other drop catchers are doing. I've tried 3 or 4 dot coms and that appears to be impossible with SnapNames out there..

They have been VERY responsive to my questions. I will say that!

I don't like their pricing adverts:

Everything is FROM $xx - well I don't want 5 domains so it's ACTUALLY $yy. I hate hidden pricing.

That said... I wouldn't say no..

A very strange experience

As the title indicates, I just had the strangest domain registration experience with Domainmonster.com

On Thursday I wanted to register a few .im domains. I couldn't do this via my reseller account, so I started looking around for retail registrars offering .im. Domainmonster.com offered them at a reasonable price, and the interface seemed nice and snappy. The registration was a breeze, and I was positively surprised by their uncluttered control panel.

Fast forward to today: I'm unable to get to their site. Strange, so I check the whois status of the three domains I had registered. They don't exist (they did on Thursday). Very strange. I try their site on another computer, which was connected via a VPN. Their site works. I try logging in with my credentials - unable to do so, e-mail invalid / no such domain (when trying to recover).

UPDATE:

It was indeed a security issue, their system had automatically flagged my order due to my IP mismatching my country of residence (on vacation). The trouble was that I never got the automated e-mail they sent (still don't know why, Google Apps doesn't generally lose mail), which lead to an automatic deletion & ban after 48 hours. A quick phone call to their undeniably friendly customer service, and a few scanned documents later, my account and the domains have been reinstated - and I'm one happy customer.

At the end of the day it's good to know they take suspected fraud seriously. This also serves as a reminder to invest serious thought to e-mail delivery issues / junk mail filtering, to not lose time critical e-mail. My initial positive impression stands: The interface is exemplary, and their telephone customer service team is very knowledgeable and helpful, which is a rarity these days. Highly recommended!

Hi everyone!

Hi DreamGolf,

I'm April Forsyth and I'm a member of the support team at Domainmonster. I just thought I would post a quick reply as I came across this thread!
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=236794

Firstly as MicroGuy kindly said, we are a trusted registrar (although I can't claim to be impartial!) and have been around since 2006. We're fully ICANN accredited and pride ourselves on having the best customer service out there.

We haven't experienced any down time so it's unusual that you would be experiencing problems viewing the site. If you ever have trouble viewing the site our support team will be more than happy to help you out if you just get in touch at support(at)domainmonster.com and let us know a few details. IP address is often useful information to provide in the email so we can look into it straight away for you, and also whether your having the issue across multiple browsers/ computers.

Please do get in touch if you need anything or if the problem persists, i'll be quite happy to deal with it personally if you mark it for my attention!

Kind Regards, April

Hi There

Hi Everyone,

I'm April and I work on the support team over at Domainmonster so I just thought I would add a post after reading this thread.

@cadarache - I do apologise if our security checks caught you out unnecessarily. They can activate for a number of reasons and we have both an automated system, and a dedicated team behind the security and notifications that get sent. Unfortunately fraudsters tend to make life a lot more difficult for the rest of us, hence why we have to be so careful, and there are sometimes false catches. So sorry about that! I'm glad that we were able to sort everything out for you and that your faith was restored anyway!
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=236794

@LEENoble - I had involvement in the latter part of the support ticket you sent us regarding this backorder issue and I can reassure you that this was most definitely a case of crossed wires! I'm sure it was a bit confusing receiving emails saying we were trying to bill you for a domain we didn't catch, but the issue that caused this has now been fully rectified and there is no reason for it to happen again. Apologies for any alarm caused nonetheless.

Regarding the separate issue of hidden pricing, we list all the prices on the price list page here: Domains. Domains Price List. Bulk Discounts on Domains which highlights the three bands of pricing we offer. On the search page, we do show the cheapest "from" price next to the domain, but all prices are confirmed twice: once at the "view basket" stage, and once at the "checkout" phase before placing an order. So hopefully it is still clear the exact amount to be paid, and isn't really classed as "hidden pricing". I'm more than happy to raise this issue however and see if we can make things clearer in some way.

Hope that is in some way helpful, and as always just get in touch with me or one of our other agents over at support(at)domainmonster.com if needed!

Kind regards, April
