Domain about to expire. I have a domain about to expire with a registar that charges $25.00 to renew. Is there anyway I can renew it for less. Say at Go Daddy. If so How would I go about doing this?

If it's not too late to transfer it to another registrar you can do it for under $9 at most.

It usually takes a few days to transfer depending on who the losing/gaining registrars are. If you have a week or so left you should be OK.

I have more than 1 week. Thanks for the info. Can the losing registrar charge a fee for this? Or do I just have to pay the new registrar?

Who is the current registrar?
What is the extension (is it a .com, .info, .TV, etc)?

They can. But they can also get into trouble for doing so due to ICANN "rules".
You'll pay the new registrar to add a year or so to your domain. Before making
the transfer request, though, make sure of the following:
1. Domain is unlocked first, then check after 12-24 hours via WHOIS if it's now
"Active" instead of "Registrar-Lock".
2. Make sure admin email on record is valid, or somehow change it if need be.

HI
Yes I would go to Godaddy and in the transfer domain name section I would enter your domain name it will cost you $8.95 pkus $0.25 icn fee , but you can only really do this with in 14-30 days of the expiry date of the domain name..
Check with your current register about their transfer terms...
I did this with a few of my domain names now that were going to expire in 30 days... why would I pay $14.95 to renew them if I could transfer them to Godaddy for only $8.95
Thanks
