I dont think the 0 trader rating has any effect, if it was - then I'd say yes.

Buyers are just being more picky these days, its hard sometimes to even sell a good name at a good price, keyword Domains are where its at.

People will buy domains which interest them or they think have potential in their hands. So even though there are some good domains that are going cheap, I don't buy'em since I can't make use of them properly.

I try to buy domains, that I can turn it into a profit or atleast make a website with. . Its just my preference and as preferences go, they vary from individual to individual.

Well the best way to explain is to explain what I look for. I look for a name that I can use. One that I can develop and then I look to see if I can afford it and if it is worth it.

If it was eBay I would say that your "rating" would have alot to do with it but that is not the case here at NP.

Competition is tough. You will learn quickly by surfing these threads. Make sure you do some research on potential regs. Check out Google and Overture #'s and see if there are any viable leads out there.

The big lesson to learn IMO is to not fall in love with how well the "name" looks or sounds. I've made that mistake...ie HowFarByCar.com among other previous "beauties".

Enjoy the ride. Good-luck,
ST

Quality of the domain (in a potential Buyer's eyes) and pricing (where a potential Buyer sees value above the listed price), IMHO. I think one of the *best* things one can do to get an idea of the general Wholesale "range" (leading to appropriate pricing) is to have domain names appraised first here in the "Appraisals Forum". It's also smart to follow the Appraisals, as well as keep an eye on the Sales threads ... in order to get a better understanding of where your domains rate comparatively, to some degree. I have had very good success, overall ... in the Sales threads, both for and NP$'s. Has every domain I've listed sold? Hardly. Timing can play a factor, as well ... where a potential Buyer happens to come across one of the listings at the right time, looking for something specific in nature.

Be selective in your registrations, follow the Appraisals Forum, get your domains appraised, and price competitively, reasonably.
These will help with your efforts, IMHO.
Patience is a virtue ... and we ALL know it well.
Good Luck with your sales.

precisely, the problem with us newbies;quick buy/quick sell
and the difficulty
of gauging a good name with
potential!!!
"feelings" of a good name would not help.

that's why
I am still cruising and not
Buying yet....
a hard game....

I think a trader rating does not really matter much, that is, unless you have a negative rating. I found that people are now more picky with domain purchases than they were a few years or even a few months ago. You may want to try webhostingtalk.com. Don't give up! Good luck!

I have had a fair success in these and other forums. Actually I have had all my domains sold that I wanted to be. The secret is to find a bargain then give a bargain

This is a great thread. Lots of valuable info.

Coastalguy has important advice we would do well to heed:
Quote:
The big lesson to learn IMO is to not fall in love with how well the "name" looks or sounds. I've made that mistake...ie HowFarByCar.com among other previous "beauties".
My advice: Try to register names that have 'inherent' value. That's easier said than done, I know.
To begin with, keywords are a good bet.

Let's look at some of your names, mnm_pistha, and MAYBE why they were not selling:

1. OrderMedicine.net is OK, it's got some overture & google results. But notice, that the the dot com version is open for sale too. Would an interested buyer prefer your name when he could get the 'superior' dot com version? Hard to tell. Just putting myself in the shoes of a prospective buyer so we see things in a different perspective. (Keep an eye on this though. Perhaps the eventual buyer of ordermedicine.com may be interested in your .net version.)

2. You've got a few biz names. I don't think average biz names have seen too much activity in the resale market.

3. Finally, DomainRain.com. It SOUNDS nice with the rhyme and all. But with respect, why should a buyer pay you $50 for it when he could register RainDomain.com or even better, RainDomains.com which are both unregistered ? Is your name better in any way than either of these? You've got to show a prospect why your name is better.

Just some quick thoughts which I hope will be helpful. I hope I haven't ruined your day
Anyway, I think we can all learn from one another's successes and failures.

Still, some of your names are better than those I started with
ShyGirls.cc. Ouch! And how do you like magnadunks.com? Ugh! Don't know what possessed me to register that one. (Good thing I managed to sell it cheap.)

Keep it up! Don't give up and all the best with your domain sales, mnm_pistha .
