Someone wants my domain

I've bought a few domain names, but I'm not into selling as a business/hobby. But someone has emailed me asking about buying one of my domains which I no longer use. How do I decide what to charge?

The domain includes the name of my town, and the business I was using it for - the buyer is a local business who is providing the service in the domain name. Does this make it more valuable to him?

I'm in the UK, so I have both the .co.uk and the .com versions.

I have a paypal account - should I insist on using this rather than a cheque?

TIA - I'm a complete newbie at selling as you can see!

Domain name

hello,

Maybee post the name and someone may be able to give a rough idea as to how much it may be worth.( in the appraisals section)

I would say it would be worth alot more to the buyer if his name/business is in the domain. And having the 2 .co.uk/com extensions.

Depending on the value of the name paypal is ok but if its alot of money maybee Escrow would be better and safer (www.escrow.com)
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/85989-someone-wants-my-domain.html

Hope this helps some.

If you use a cheque make sure it clears first and Check the money is in account before transfer ( may seem strange but i have forgotten to check my account before and got "stung"> )

check is better, make sure it clears before you transfer the domain though, you dont want it to bounce after you have transfered the domains

Try and find out as much info about the Company interested in your name, like how big are they etc... I dont think I'd make the first offer, I'd try to get them to, this will give you a better idea of how serious they are and what they might be willing to pay.

This is the exact type of sale us Domainers aim for, an end user and the best part is they contacted you

I had this happen to me a few months back, I prob. would have sold the name for like $500 but I got them to make the first offer which was 4x that.

They wired the $ to my bank account, another option as far as payment goes.

No, no.

Anyhow, take the domain name to the "appraisals" section. If people are coming to you for the domain name, you can pretty much name your own "reasonable" price.

Have him make an offer. Appraisals here won't do you much good. In fact it will just get the name indexed in all the major search engines along with the "appraisals."

I say make a offer. Start high though, and if he really wants it he will but it. Keep going down a bit, but not 2 far. If there are more than 1 people wanting to buy it, then start VERY high.
