Gain control over domain

hi

i bought a domain together with a hosting account. I dont think the hosting company claims the domain (they havnt got it parked) and it was registered under my name.
however they wont give me support for it after i stopped the hosting deal and they wont answer my emails.

how can i move it to for instance, godaddy? without bothering them?
i dont have/cant remember passwords for that old hosting account.

You need to find out where the domain is registered. Look it up on a 'whois' site (like www.betterwhois.com). If it indeed is registered in your name with YOUR email address as adminitrator, then you can go to that registrar's site and click on the "forgot my password" link (assuming they have one). The password will be sent to your email address on file. If the hosting company used THEIR email address, then you're going to have to go through them to regain your domain.

problem now is: tucows doesnt send username/password to anybody. only the reseller does (their policy)

and the reseller isnt cooperating

Then I would explain your dilema to tucows and tell them their reseller isn't cooperating.

Yah.. I feel sorry for you.. But if you read alot of toses you will find that hosting companies that offer free domains will only give them too you after 1 year or something of being with them.. If you leave before that they keep it.. But I think you can try tucows.. I don't think they will do it though..

This would be very easy to rip off domains if it could be done that easy.
