Dropping name - To ask to buy or to try to snap

Hey, ive been watching a domain that expiers in the next few days. The site is fairly well maintaned and active, however the regester of the domain dident put a real email in the whois so i dont think he knows whats going to happen. Should i contact him with an offer to buy it, possibaly alerting him that its expiering or should i try to catch is somewhere?

Thanks

QBert

I don't know the answer to that question! Having said that... I think telling someone you're interested in purchasing their domain puts them in the driver's seat. I mean, you're showing your cards.

I too would wait to see if it drops and if they happen to reg it and you're desperate to have it... then you know you at least have to offer them the reg fee.

Cancer Survivorship
depends how important it is to you? Do you have the funds needed to grab it if the owner throws a crazy figure your way. I personally would sit back and see if it drops and backorder it up.

That really is a tough one QBert ~

I tried contacting on one about 4 months back , and the owner told me they Would not let it expire (A few days short of Expiration at this point) and they wanted 500$ (US) for it. It wasn't worth that amount to me so I passed. Long story short - They let it drop into Pool's hands and it went at auction for less than half of what they were asking (I still didn't go high enough to get it though).

I just waited out a different one recently and got it by manual Registration

There are some benefits to the fact that no one really knows when the domains go to pending delete (sometimes) ~
