First of all, thank you Sublime and Rapidbox for my last thread; hoped you enjoyed your presents. Here's another newbie question:
I just found out one of my domains, which is comprised of two words, has an Overture type-in for both words combined for over 500k per month. Best of all, it's completely generic. It is a .biz, though I see its .net counterpart has a Page Rank of PR3. When I went to the .net site, I found that it's parked. So it's living completely off advertisements. My questions are these:
a) What goes into a page rank?
b) How big a deal is Overture type-ins?
c) Is it better to build a website and tack on Adsense or park it at Sedo, or both?
d) How do you get larger websites interested in advertising on your new site?
It's a lot, but I know you can tackle it. Thanks again.
In brief, because to answer each of these questions would be a novel:
a) How many links to your page from other pages there are, and the relative PR's of those pages compared to how many outgoing links there are on your page. If you google "google pr explanation" you'll get a much better skinny than the above.
b) It's a "medium" deal. It's a good indication of how popular the keywords are, and the overture with extension (Your keyword+the extension, .com, etc.) is an even larger medium deal, but it's easy to fake so needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
c) Better to build a quality, usable site that's there for something besides ads and have the ads there as a the income method. Parking is great for large domain portfolios that can't have every domain developed.
d) Have greatcontent, then ask.
Yet again, search the boards, you'll find the answers to all of these questions and more. Answering them in their entirity would fill up this allotted space many times over.
BOL,
Allan

I would say development is much better. I sell content for sites and the people who buy my content always come back and tell me they make up to 400% more than what they did by parking their sites.

I agree with Trish
When you see a site that is parked and undeveloped, chances are that you won't be visiting that site again. However, a site with solid content that is developed, users will be more likely to remember and to come back and visit them. Unless the words are really popular and you don't have time for making the site, I would say that developing it is the best way. Good luck!
