Hi,
Sorry if this Q is a bit on the amature side, but i'm new to the web design side and am struggling.
I have just designed a site in front page and used a downloaded font as the main font. Is there a simple way of ensuring that visitors to my site get to see the font I have used and not have it default to a web core font such as Times New'?
This is my site if it helps www.rwpuk.com and the font should be 'Adventure subtitles'.
Thank You - Rob
There is no practical way to know what fonts are installed on a visitors machine. Common wisdom says to stick to the standard set of fonts that are found on most machines.
I found this site that lists standard fonts for Mac and Windows.
The only other way to use a particular font is to make it as an image file. This would be o.k. for one or two images, a logo or headline for instance, but an overuse would slow down your site drastically.
BTW, I think everyone goes font-wild when they first start building pages

Hi Painperdu,
I've since found out about dynamic fonts and a way of embedding(?) with a piece of software from microsoft 'WEFT'. Not sure how it's going to work though.
But thanks for the link anyhow.
I hate other fonts anyway. I always use arial, because it looks professional, everyone likes it and everyone has it.
If i ever use another font, which I don't often because I find they look tacky, and if people don't like it then they turn away, but if I do, then I make it into a gif file and then use it as a picture.
I like the way you have used pictures there, but none of the links work!
Nice site!
It's usually best to stick with the core fonts installed with Windows / Mac
As I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people out there that doesn't install custom fonts
If you really want a part of your site to look different with other fonts, making a transparent GIF or even making flash works
