Thoughts on shortening domain names


Let's take a Cloud Computing business for example.

Would cloudcomp.ext (any given extension) be just as good (or close to) as cloudcomputing.ext because it's shorter, or would it decrease/kill its value because "comp" could mean anything?

Thoughts, opinions please.
