.name question

I have found a highly searched term available in .name extension. However, it's a French word ( high results in French OVT). Is it worth regging? No experience whatsoever with the .name, but I know there are many .name fans here, what's your opinion?

Thanks

Don't go after .NAME domains for type-ins. Generally speaking, only buy a .NAME domain if you plan on developing it or know someone who will buy. In your case, if you plan to develop the domain and achieve high search engine rankings, it may be worth purchasing. The .NAME extension is still relatively obscure and is meant to be only used for personal websites. Many people argue that .NAME is only good for words that fit the extension such as Baby.name or FindA.name.

To Add: I did buy up in second level .NAMES when they first came out so I'm not totally pessimistic. I hope their value improves in the next year!

I didn't mean to buy the .name for traffic, just a good keyword domain, but you're probably right, would be waste of money, thanks for your opinion!

Yes, .name is IMHO, the WORST extension there is. I like .tk over .name really.

Hi,

In general, .name is a weak extension.

There certainly are exceptions, but for the most part it is better to pursue a domain with a stronger extension.

Good luck.

The fit with the extension, but too well. Not always best to do it like that.

Ah, Qwert, you break my heart.

I like .name's when they fit the extension. While obscure with most internet users, the extension has additional recall-ability among domainers and webmasters; and if this group is your target market, then . Just IMHO.
