can i make my own extensions like www.fishand.chips etc. for my domain?

You can't make new extensions, but it's possible to make subdomains..

If you own chips.info (as an example) you could make fishand.chips.info, or similar..

There's lots of extensions out there, see registerfly.com. They have ones like .club, .xxx, .school... lots more

Although I don't think they have .chips.. lol

But those are not real extensions, just camouflaged new.net sub-domains, and they require a plug-in in order to view them as well..

Hi,

Extensions are fixed, but you can be as creative as you want to the left of the “dot.” Numerous variations of “FishAndChips” can be created by adding various prefixes and suffixes to the base terms; then check the availability for the desired TLD and register the names that are most appealing to you.

I suppose if you could get chips.(Anyextension) you use the plugin for yourself, however anyone who would go to fish.chips would need the plugin.
