E-Mail Appraisal Scam ? ..... Yes it is

To our new members,

Lately I'm seeing an increase in postings asking "is this a scam?" or
not. The answer is 99.5% OF THE TIME YES IT IS A SCAM.

Your seeing an old e-mail scam. This email is designed to get you
excited by telling you they are interested in buying your name. They
hype your name only to request an appraisal by any one of a list of
APPRAISAL services.

I'm here to tell you you DO NOT NEED to fall for this. You need not
engage in hours of e-mail and research on potential buyers. No
hunting down e-mail or buyers names etc.

This is very simple .................

Reply with one email. Explain that they may obtain an appraisal for
themselves.
They are free to pay for any service they like. They
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/622225-e-mail-appraisal-scam-yes-it.html
can pull out their wallets and PAY FOR IT THEMSELVES! Then the
negotiations can start.

Thats it gang. No need to trust anyone. The buyer can pay for an
appraisal. Do you really think a buyer would drop 5K or 20K on a
name but would not drop $30, $50, $100 bucks for an appraisal?

Quit getting all excited and then let down. It's a simple resolve and
it weeds out the real buyers. You can always deduct the cost of the
appraisal once the deal is inked.

Remember .... you have the name and that puts you in control. They
solicited you and so they should be prepared to fund their venture.
If you want to know the truth here it is. A real buyer will:

A) Know the value of the domain name or not really care
B) Know their budget and what they are willing to spend on the name
C) Have already gotten an appraisal and is offering you less.

Good luck, Be careful and never reply to email links unless you
absolutely know and trust the sender.

You'll find that after doing this, many will not reply to you- showing what their true intentions were all along.

Got on days an email like that. Will probably post here the domain/email they used. They hyped the value of domain by about 20x to get me excited, but, of course, with the request to do appraisal. Probably some do fall for the trick, if the scam is still going around.
