All I did is take a few hours and throw it into an excel sheet with a tab for each registrar... but I'm small potatoes so far

I use excel to monitor mine also.

Don't rely on the registrar to notify you. If you have a yahoo account or use Microsoft outlook, you can put the expirations on your calendar and you will be notified when the expirations are coming (put the dates a week early to remind yourself).

If you have at least 100 names, Fabulous.com has a pretty good portfolio management capability that tracks expirations (except for .biz and .us), even if your names aren't registered there, as well as PPC parking and useful traffic stats. I use it in combination with the domainsellerpro script to keep track of the sales process of domains. I also supplement this with the export features of paypal for sales income and some of my registration costs. Neither one keeps track perfectly of registrars, acquision prices, or other "nice to know" data.

Other than that, excel is probably your best bet, but it takes some effort to keep the database up to date.

I've used Excel until now, but my collection have grown to around 300 domains so it starts to get a little hard to keep track off all of them there.
So I'm making a nice little Access domain database with all the info I need now..

It does, but it's much cooler (and fun) to use Access instead...

You'd really impress us if you said you used an Oracle MS-SQL database.

I keep track of my domains several ways. I simply type everything into a word document and keep it on a cd. I also use the best form I feel comfortable with pen and paper. Maybe old fashion but I enjoy it.

I also use Excel. At the moment my column headings are:

Domain Name; Extension; Create Date; Expire Date; Registrar; Sedo Listed; Sedo Parked; Note; AdSense; Idea; Domain Name

With the data->sort function I can sort the data according to any of the column headings. It is a work of progress so I will modify column headings to suit my different needs as they occur.

With a spreadsheet like this, the important thing is to keep it up to date. You should change the spreadsheet as soon as you modify any domain. It is a pain but it is essential for good record keeping.

HI

Right now I use a number of programs and a text editor to keep track of around 235 names but I am also finding it harder to track all the information I want to track... So when I get around to it I and when I get the funds I will be adding a Domain Name organizer feature to my Expired Domain Toolkit software and once complete I will make sure to let every one here test it out and maybe give away some free copies.

Thanks
Tom Dahne

I'm old fashioned: I use a notebook. Then again, I don't have many domains (less than 50 if you don't count .infos)

Does that product have any trouble with accessing whois servers since many have not made restrictions to stop email harvesters?
