| NamePros Member | How do you find available domain names? I am not even sure if I am allowed to ask this question but I am curious to know what methods are commonly used to register available domain names? I found that manually looking for domain names is a very tedious and inefficient process even with instant domain name checkers... Any advice is greatly appreciated |

| Emperor Penguin | Many NamePros users use droplists. This is basically a list of domains that have been registered but the owner decided to not renew the domain for some reason or maybe forgot to renew the domain. You may want to take a look at http://www.namepros.com/expired-domains/ for more information on that. The issue with registering a domain that is dropping is that more than 1 person may be after that same domain. That is when backordering comes into play. The only other method to registering a good domain in my opinion is to just try common words together and such. Sometimes all it takes is being lucky and being in the right place at the right time. You can also try making something up that may not even be in the dictionary. There are many people that would love to get their hands on a 1 word domain that is unique and brandable. At one time, someone thought of Google and Meebo. Do you think those were in the dictionary? Nope, I don't think so. Last edited by snowbird; 07-05-2009 at 06:39 PM. |

I've always wondered though, is there any chance that I may find a great 2 keyword domain name available?! no luck so far...Also, I found a lot of available domains but I am not sure if they are worth the money or not... I've bought like 15 domains now and ppl here said there are all reg fee How would I know if the domain I bought is worth anything especially that most ppl here agree that estibot is inaccurate! | ||||

| Emperor Penguin | Hmm... I think a good thing for you to do would be to read this thread: http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbi...investing.html It has some very good information for those who are getting started in domaining. Before jumping right into anything, it is always best to learn more about it first. I would suggest reading as much as you can on the forums here. See what people buy, learn what you can. Educate yourself about domaining before taking a dive right in. Also work on a budget for yourself. It is easy to get carried away with registering and buying domains. The last thing you want is to buy tons of domains and not sell them. That would be taking a loss on your investment. There are many people here who have fell into that trap when they were first starting out. |
