What's better? LLL or Generic Search terms?

Well, this probably sounds like a VERY stupid question to most of you, but I am torn between choosing which domain names to buy, & I need the guidance from the pros.

So, here's the story. I'm in a very tight budget when purchasing domain names, I might like a lot, but I filter and I filter the lists before finally buying the domain names which I believe have potential at getting sold.

So now, I'm torn between domain names that are LLLs, or domain names with keywords - especially 1 word domains (search terms).
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/593929-whats-better-lll-generic-search-terms.html
I want to take the 1-word domains, but seeing the LLLs is really confusing me on which exactly is more valuable from the two. (By the way, I'm talking about ccTLDs)

I would really appreciate some insight.

People operate at different levels in the marketplace and I would suggest that you need to decide what you want out of the name and your reason for buying it in the first place (eg, for development, short term flip or long term hold).

I buy names primarily with a view to selling them to an end user and I operate at the low budget end of the market, so keyword names are the ones I go for and have more experience with. I stick primarily with dot com names so have little experience with ccTLDs.

Other people, perhaps with more funds available, have more experience at the LLL end of the market and can give you advice at that level.

^ Thanks for your insight David! So far, I've stuck with the keyword domains as well, it seemed like the safer route.

There are domainer domains which are liquid assets like LLL/LLLL/CCC etc.

There are end user types, which are descriptive keywords. I have a selection of both, but overall I am a bigger fan of keywords since they are much easier to find interested end users.

LLL/LLLL- etc - Easier to understand & learn. I saw these recently described as "newbie" investments and I think this is right to a large degree. This segment of the industry is largely reliant on flipping to other domainers. Enduser, development and traffic potential of names in this area is far lower.

Keyword names - Much more complex/difficult, upside is there is far more money in keyword domains than acronyms. Plus that area is far less dependant of flipping to resellers.
