Help! Selling my first domain name

Hi,

I registered a bunch of domains about a month ago and read many articles how to rank up the domain prior to selling and now I'm trying to sell my first domain name. I created a minisite on Noomle for one of my domain names, Abbevillehotels dot com, and it made it to the number one spot in google and yahoo for the keyword search "Abbeville hotels". At this point I'd like to sell the domain name so I'd like some guidance on how to proceed. Who are the possible end-users I should try selling to? Most related google hits are major hotel websites who I do not think would be interested in a "local" hotel website...What kind of email should I write to these possible end users? Should I indicate a price?

Also, I'd like to know how much the domain is worth that it is indexed and ranked well... There are 6 cities called abbeville, one in france and 5 in usa.. 6380 unique searches/month, Estibot estimate is $3700.

Thanks

There is no easy answer and you already know what I an going to advise, look at what sites come up for the main keyword phrase, but more importantly look at what ADS come up for it. Those people are paying to be found and depending on your price (Estibot is generally WAY off what a domain will sell for!) you should be able to make a nice profit on the domain.

As far as what your selling price should be, I would look at what you paid for it, and then look at how much money you a making from the domain each month. My selling price would start at 12-36 months of income depending on how badly I wanted to sell it. Then I would consider that if someone wants / needs a domain, they should pay $500-$3,000 depending on a number of different things. A small bed and breakfast is not going to pay much, but a large hotel may pay a lot. I would collect your income and traffic numbers if you have them so you can use them to justify your asking price if you need to.

Buyers know domains only cost $10 a year, but a smart seller will know that the buyer may be paying hundreds a month for advertising. If you know more about the potential value to the buyer, you can ask for a higher price and resist lowering it too much.

Good Luck!
