Best way to register non-traditional extensions

When I was in Slovakia, I could have bought .sk's for almost nothing.

Now that I'm back here, they charge $200+

Just one example I suppose, but is there not a better way to get some of these weirder extensions?

Not really. It depends on the extension since every country decides how and through who they will offer their domain names. Many countries there is only a single registrar you can use for registering their domains. Others like .WS and .CC there are dozens of choices.

not really and they are expensive so i dont' sggest it

I'm going to try something, if it works, I'll let you all know. They are cheap in country, and I have friends still in country. If LEGALLY I can get them to register it and somehow transfer it to me...

$20, I like the .ru option there...

And the cyrillic options are neat, but it does knock out 95% of websurfers ;-)

Went to Krakow and Warsaw while in the area, but not long enough to be acquainted with it.
