Searches vs. Results

Hello All,

Can anyone please explain how to find out the search requests as opposed to search results in Google, Yahoo, etc...

Thank you, kp

The quick answer is "Search Results" is the number of results
(web pages found) and return for a certain search keyword.

For example "dog houses" yields 8,100,000 google search results for that keyword search.

As for search requests - It is the number of times a keyword or phrase is search for... such as the number of times dog houses is searched for
(at a search engine) daily or monthly which is 830.0 /day.
here is a tool to find your own search requests.

http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/su...keywords=yahoo
The idea obviously is to create your pages around these high search requests because they will yield the highest possible visitors to your site.
Stay away from the keywords that dont bring in any search requests.

Some would argue with me but I always say that "Search Results" are not really that important.
Sometimes they can be an indicator of competitiveness - but usually not.
Just look at the "search requests" off the page I gave you and if it is high know that there is going to be some competition for it.

Thanks Identity_00 ~

I appreciate you taking the time explaining the concept behind this tool. I havent stopped running words thru since I opened it. No wonder so many of my DN's were reg fee'd, I was going off results. Doh!

So then would 850 searches/day be like the minimum score to shoot for since "dog+houses" are fairly common words? And which do you believe is the better guide, Ovt or WT because I have seen on occasion some huge number differences on one or the other that wern't even close. I read about the input differences between them and understand how Ovt would get larger #'s and that it doesnt differentiate between singular and plural, still any other insightes on the use of this tool from anyone would be welcomed.

Thanks Again ID_00, kp

NP$ and rep upped.

Thanks kid5150 -

I usually dont buy names off of the results but that is just me.
No, 850 searches/day wouldnt be like the minimum score. It would be nice if
it was that easy but the higher searches/day the more difficult that name will be to register. It is most likely reg'd already. In this case "Doghouses.com" is surely reg'd. So you have to find something that works for you. If you are going to develop it you have to make sure you can provide the services also.
And for owning a domain, just because it has a high search daily score doesnt mean anyone is going to find your site any easier. You still have to optimize it to be seen.

Wordtracker is a better system. It covers more of a variety of the search engines and not just yahoo owned search engines.
I cant remember what the overture results say but I dont think that is daily either? That would make sense why the numbers are larger.. could be monthly perhaps.? I would stick with wordtracker on this one.

But if youre buying and selling domains this is the tool to use.
Stick with the high results for .coms and the high search requests for a best chance of sale. You can also visit namewinner.com to see which domains are about to expire and become public domain. Then grab a good domain when no one is watching...sometimes there are some good ones there.
That is where is usually get mine when I purchase.

Good luck
