Registrar Lock

I am trying to understand when I should switch a godaddy backorder and move on... If a DN moves to "Registrar Lock", does this mean has been picked up? What is Registrar Lock?

REGISTRAR-LOCK: The sponsoring registrar sets this status. The domain can not be modified or deleted. The registrar must remove REGISTRAR-LOCK status to modify the domain. The domain can be renewed. The domain will be included in the zone.

Not exactly, if you lock your domain, your domain status will be registrar-lock. eg:
Domain Name: CNOBIN.COM
Registrar: BIZCN.COM, INC.
Whois Server: whois.bizcn.com
Referral URL: http://www.bizcn.com
Name Server: DNS.BIZCN.COM
Name Server: DNS.CNMSN.NET
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/54838-registrar-lock.html
Status: REGISTRAR-LOCK
Updated Date: 25-jul-2004
Creation Date: 06-nov-2002
Expiration Date: 06-nov-2005
In this status, you cannot transfer your domains to other registrar untill you unlock them. But you can modify and renew it as usual. For deletion, I think you cannot delete any gTLD domains if they are older than 3 days, no matter registrar-lock or not.

Not exactly. It depends on your registar if they let you modify domains in locked status or not. Enom does, Godaddy does not

At the very least, registrar-lock prevents the domain name from transferring
to another registrar. What else it does is up to the registrar.

For example, NetSol's "Domain Protect" prevents transfers but does not stop
you from making any domain name record change, while Go Daddy's lock truly
prevents you from doing anything at all unless you turn it off.

I think your question is about dropped domain...if the domain changed from "pending delete" to 'register Lock", then most probably the domain has been captured/refistered by someone else...just check the whois info, and if you see the new registration/expiration date then assign the backorder to someother domain.
