Question Registering Domains with People's Names?

Hi,

I'm not a newbie since I have a lot of domains, but I was just wondering what people think about registering domain names that are people's names?

I don't mean like BradPitt.com, I mean like BillKnox.com, DaveCouger.com, or CarollWilliamson.com? I am seeing a lot of these domains expire and wonder if some are fairly common if they would be worth registering? I'm thinking that a Bill, Dave, or Caroll could file a claim and take them away from me if I have not developed a site that was credible...???

I thought I would register and park them and then sell them for about $30 each. Has anyone done something like this?

Well, IMHO, a Bill, Dave or Caroll cannot file a claim against a name since it's a common name, and probably not trade-marked, now if you were to reg something like tomcruise.com, there's a possibility that a suit could be filed if a) the name was trade-marked, or b) the domain was used to make money off Tom Cruise's celebrity status.

Well, I agree for the most part, but under the dispute rules, I think that if I have bobsmith.com parked wth ads, and Bob Smith files a complaint that I would not have any rights, since I can't show any "reason" for me to have the domain. Bob Smith clearly has a reason for wanting the domain.

EarnBestIncome is an unknown quantity at this point

What will these names be used for?
But I think they may get traffic or they can be used for personal blogs.

I was thinking to park them with ads and how to sell them someday.

Smile Estibot Domain Appraisal: $7,400

[Update]

So I found two domains with people's names. One I registered and I'm going to put a site on it. The other one I searched in Google and found out that it is the name of a woman singer that I had never heard of before. Here is the Estibot appraisal of the name, which I have hidden.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/527138-registering-domains-with-peoples-names.html

Domain: xxxxxxxyyyyy.com
Keywords (User-Defined) xxxxxxx yyyyy
Frequency (Google) 437000
in Anchor Text 11000
in Title 9390
in URL 3500
Backlinks 0

Alexa Rank Not Ranked
Traffic (Visits / Day) N/A
PPC Ads # 6
Max PPC Bid $0.33
MAX PPC Income/day $1.63
Overture/mo 508
Wordtracker/day 55

EstiBot.com Domain Appraisal : USD 7,400

Sure, I could have registered it, but I didn't feel right about that. Besides, she might have filed a complaint about my owning it.

So what I did was sent her an email and told her she could register her name for the normal fee if she wanted to. I just heard back that she was VERY happy and thanked me for letting her know. :-) So I spent about 5 minutes sending that email and I feel pretty darn good right now. :-)

A great NP member posted a list of first names.extension from .com to .us. Most first names are gone in the .com,.net,.org, .info, and .us, so i think those are valuable. I regged rylie.info and hailee.info, so i think you can find that list on this forum by doing some searches, but i think random combo names could be valuable, but its literally a wild goose chase where you're hoping someone needs the name, or becomes famous and wants their name. I'd rather have a targetted audience.
