Where should I register domains?

I have so far registed my domains in register.com, but there are very high reg fees. I am heard that GoDaddy isn't very good and trustable place for domain parking, but their reg fees are very tantalising. What should I do in future, prefer Register.com, GoDaddy.com or something else?

But what are the Register.com positive sides? What are the others negative sides?
Why Register.com asks so much and why people register their domain there? The prices are very high there.

you don't focus on just one registrar, there are so many out there, spread your domains.
there are both pros and cons for each registrar and different stories.
it's a matter of what you know so people know them as registrar so they register their domains there, until someone comes along with a better price and support.

For .info domains I use GoDaddy because of the price ($0.99 + ICANN fee or less).
For other extensions - Name.com. Good prices, easy to use, and it has a great availability checker.

I've heard that in GoDaddy and some other webs who's prices are low, you can't trasfer your domains somewhere else if you want. That isn't true or what?

If you change the whois information of your domain at GoDaddy, you cannot transfer that domain out for a period of 60 days. The same is the case if you buy a domain and it gets pushed into your GD account: You cannot transfer it to another registrar for two months. That's only one of the reasons why I do not recommend GoDaddy.com at all.

Moniker is great and NameCheap is good, too.

I think a good page for you to look at would be http://www.namepros.com/registerindex.php . That page will give you a big list of domain registration sites along with reviews of what people think of them. There is no 1 registration site that is best. People have their own personal preference for various reasons. Some like to find the cheapest price while others like to find an affordable place with great security or better support. I myself happen to run RegisterBird.com which is another good site on that list that NamePros members like to use. So take a look and im sure you will find a registration site that suites your needs.

Yes, transferring a domain out of any registrar is usually pretty easy. Just allow yourself enough time to perform the transfer since it sometimes may take up to 5 business days for a transfer to be completed depending upon the new registrar, etc. So for instance transferring a domain 1 day before it expires would not be a good idea. Also remember that after you register or transfer a domain, you need to wait a minimum of 60 days before you can transfer it again. This is standard proceedure that every registration provider must follow since it is an ICANN policy.

Do not have just one site where you keep your domains! Spread them around.

I use following:
Moniker
Good and reliable site, a little minus is their controlpanel is a bit confusing for me.

Godaddy
(although I am thinking about moving all my domains from them, after what they have done in the Kentucky issue)

1and1
Yes I know they dont have bulk actions, so it is very slow to make changes if you have large portfolio. And it is reeeaaal pain in the you know what to transfer, AND they dont have free push
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=525069

AND ofcourse my own

I'd recommend one of these registrars, depending on what you're aiming for:

* Name.com - Cheapest prices on .com names and decent support.
* Dynadot.com - Fastest control panel, most painless domain management, excellent bulk pricing, and free registration API with bulk account. My favorite registrar overall.
* NameCheap.com - Best support -- though admittedly, GoDaddy support ain't too shabby either.
* Fabulous.com - Best security, blazing fast control panel, cheap domain pricing, and popular domain monetization program.
