| First Time Poster! | Expired domains still active. How? I've been looking at expired domains in GoDaddy auctions, but yet the websites are still up and running when I go to the url. When I look up the WHOIS entry, I can see that they expired a month ago, but yet the original website is still there. How can this be? Would GoDaddy not just take the domain back and park it themselves once it's expired? I'm a complete newbie, so apologies in advance if this is a stupid question. |

| NamePros Member | After a domain expires there is still up to 2 months before it can be re-registered. The registrar will hold it for 30+ days where the original owner has a chance to re-grab the domain for an additional fee normally $80. After which it will go into Del-Pending after which it will go back to normal.

| New Member | Thanks weblord! This is completely new to me. I didn't know that the one can renew "expired" domains during the grace period at the standard rate. This is a 'rule' or can the different registrars charge as they wish during the "Grace" period? Thanks, expdom |
