I'M STUPID. (Please can you explain how namejet works?)

I've taken a quick look at Namejet and I'm still a tiny bit confused about a couple of things...

Firstly, the difference between "PRE-RELEASE" names and "PENDING DELETE" names. -- Am I right in saying that PRE-RELEASE names and PENDING DELETE names are pretty much exactly the same thing? (domains that have expired and are deleting). The only difference is that "PRE-RELEASE" names are a small percentage of expiring domains that're only listed on Namejet and that Namejet has first dibs at catching?
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/523108-im-stupid-please-can-you-explain.html

Secondly, I'm confused about the bidding...
Why do people bid against eachother and drive the price up before a name is deleted? Why not just bid the minimum amount, (to express interest in the name), and then wait for the REAL auction. The 3-day auction between interested parties.

Any help in explaining how namejet works would be fantastic

Ta.

Your answer to your first question is correct.

Your second question, i'm not sure, but I think I have read somewhere that the higher the amount for the domain is, the more "power" is used by NameJet to get it.

Best regards,
