![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Official .WEB Discussion ThreadThe Official .WEB Discussion Thread I realize that .WEB is not released yet, but I want everyone to discuss: -How they think .WEB extension will turn out. -If they will register any .WEB's -Discuss anything about .WEB :.WEB is HIGHLY brandable and sounds just perfect for the web, hence .WEB! I myself WILL register some .WEB's! I hear some people say that .WEB , along with many new TLD's will just strengthen .COM's, but I think .WEB can really take off. Please Discuss ![]() -Hurley4540 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The short and extremely natural .WEB (as well as the very highly brandable .TEL) will quickly receive a LOT of attention and investment away from the long and awkward, failed "dot Mobey" extension, IMHO. ![]() ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/519247-the-official-web-discussion-thread.html Link: www.webtld.com Link: www.telnic.org There are also many, many existing threads here already regarding both the .WEB and the highly brandable .TEL, as well! ![]() Just my two sense. -Jeff

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It has been first proposed in 1996 so it's almost about time. Either way, I'll be in on it whether its a good thing or not.

![]() ![]() ![]() | When is it gonna be available for registration and how much would the reg fee costs? If .web wants to join the competition it would need to be priced at the same price range as .com .net.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | This is not going to work out at all. If extensions are going to move away from the big 3 it will only be to things like .tv and .me and other niche extensions. .web is just another general purpose extension which we already have many of and would take a long time to establish itself if ever. This will just see a lot of domainers waste money like .mobi and .asia. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=519247 As for .tel, ".tel" is about publishing contact data: phone numbers, SIP addresses and so on directly in the DNS, not on html-based websites. I dont think that definition describes it well but its just basically a contact page that you have limited control over. It seems to me to be a less complete solution compared to .mp and .mp is free while you pay for .tel. So IMO .tel doesnt seem very promising.

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=519247 Isn't .net more brandable and established than .web ? The web is just one component of the Internet, granted a major one. I don't see what is so exciting with .web.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | DOT WEB was such a dot disaster when it got rejected. That is the first time I came to understand what a mess Icann was. I had a few .web entered so while I certainly didn't like seeing my hard-spent cash go to waste I was more annoyed with the oddities of the system - which include the strange registrant who seemed to own every other word in web. Personally I would like to see my names from the original application go through, but for the continuance of the tld I would rather that the registrants get wiped clean. Either way, if it does finally go forward, .web will have some old hats who recognize the name and so it will have some strength and brandability from launch. How it will fare in the years forward will greatly depend on Chris and how he gets the name recognized because he ain't no Bob Parsons. |
