If You Had $10,000 ?

How would you infest it with domain names? I really no nothing about profiting with domain names and I heard the domain name parking boom is gone and the market isn't as good. What would you recommend I do to make a return on my investment?

I would either buy a popular one word domain name or a LLL.com. Or just invest into developing load's of mini-sites......but who am I to know...if I really was that good at predicting my investments...I would be another Rick Latona or something!

Wait a year for the market to get better, and put it into stocks. It's much easier to learn, and your assets are much more liquid if you need the money.

i'd find a $10,000 generic name in an area i had a passion for, that was getting the maximum type in traffic (and good exact searches). And a name people are typing looking for a product or a service. If starting out i'd ask to road test the traffic for a couple of weeks to check the traffic.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/513081-if-you-had-10-000-a.html

then i'd develop a great site. add some basic SEO and then just tinker as you felt like it - with an income stream filling up your bank balance.

You could do this with 1 x $10,000 name, 2 x $5,000 names, 10 x $1000 names - depending on how many sites you wanted. each one is a business so you can sell them for a multiple of profit as they do well, or hire staff to run aspects.

Most importantly.....
Research and Read.... in this forum especially....and don't spend any money for at least a month.....just read....read...read
After a month you'll be alot more prepared and can rely on your own knowledge instead of the opinions of others.

Don't think that means you can't ask questions....
Just read alot before you invest a cent....
Take it from someone who knows

I had this 10K in April this year. Which I invested in mutual funds instead of domains and over there also I lost 4K

On other hand I invested 2500 or so in domain names which returned me 4500 so that was good enough.

LLLL.com means Letter - Letter - Letter - Letter .com - 4 letter .com Domain Name.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=513081

Flipping means buying it and selling it off to someone else.

EX: I buy one domain name from you for $100 and then sell it off for $150 next week. Then it is my profit of $50 USD. But counting in percentages when you do this on larger scales. The risk is more but then the returns are also more.

If I get $100 domain name and I sell it at $80 then I have 20 USD loss.
If I get $10,000 domain name and I sell it at $8000 then I have 2000 USD loss.

Same way.....

If I get $100 domain name and sell it at $120 then I have 20 USD profit.
If I get $10,000 domain name and sell it at $12,000 then I have 2000 USD profit.

It also depends what your time is worth.

Would you go for it if you are making $20 profit in 1 week etc. etc.

Moreover it is not only about buying a costly name. You can also buy 100 domains worth $100 dollars that is 10K investment and then you can sell it off at $120 each resulting into 12K return, so you make 2K profit.

It all depends on time and efforts and returns and your expectations as well as your research of the market.

My personal Opinion: Next time I am going to invest 10K in domains then I will invest it all in 1 domain name.

Can you recommend an ebook or a tutorial which would in detail show me how to buy domains that have worth and where and how to market and sell them?

LOL I myself wrote one in past. I am giving it for free for time being to my blog subscribers. If you want a copy then you can go here: http://www.keralpatel.com/get-free-e...-domain-names/
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=513081

Still remember this was written in 2007. Right now it is 2008 so the market has changed. Like there are no more 4 letter available right now. I have updated the ebook as much as possible for 2008 but yet you have to use your imagination at some places.

Thanks.

If I had $10,000. I would buy a developed site that's already making monthly revenue.
Check out: http://marketplace.sitepoint.com/ to find those sites.

You can go through an escrow service that will protect you.
BTW, sitepoint sellers have to pay to list their website on there.
Most scammers won't do that, they'll just use a free service

edit: Also you can ask the sellers questions on sitepoint, and read others who have asked questions. Most people point out the discrepancies to the seller, and will let you know if their lying about something.
