| TDNAM buyathon
looking to pickup some cheap domains
anyone got any advice for me?
just picked up dastoor.org yesterday, it originally belonged to some cult group, then a christian school in Oklahoma owned it for awhile. still gets some traffic. could be a dud but i bought it anyways to try it out lol

| Yahoo says that domain has about 7 backlinks. That could be a good domain if you can monetize Iraqi traffic... :-)
Well, you can pick up quite a few cheap domains here. Check out the Domain Auction topic and you can find domains where you may be the only bidder and get the domain for the starting bid, which is often as low as $1. If you want to jumpstart your site with traffic, I like picking up some of the $5 domains at TDNAM. You have to pay for a year's renewal and it can take a week or two to get the domain after you win it, but if you can find a domain that is on the topic you want and is getting some traffic it can be worth it.
But if you are going to build sites the traffic is not crucial since you can get content and optimize the site to build traffic. In that case it's better to focus on a good name, both to improve the site as a package, but also to increase the sales value later on. | |
