Q: domain transfer

Why are people transferring domains from one registrar to another? What is the point in that?
If I decide to transfer domains from one registrar to another do I have to pay?
Is domain transferring linked to the hosting? e.g. are there any benefits if the domain and hosting of that domain name are on the same registrar/host?

Most people have their own opinion, but here's my opinion :
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/504871-q-domain-transfer.html
I avoid to spread my domains over lot of different registrars because i can monitor them at once if i put them in 1 / 2 registrar(s).

Or because people didn't know which was the best (or preferable) registrar when they registered a domain, but after they had read a lot (in NamePros, etc), they found the better one, so they decided to move the domain to a new registrar.

it's usually a good idea to keep your registrar and hosting company separate.

some people have their favorite registrar so they see a need to transfer. there are fees on outside registrar transfer.

registrars are good at domain registration and hosting companies are good in hosting, let's keep it that way.

There are various reasons why people tranfer domains to other registrars. Main reason is Getting better price. Some times registrars offer good deals.

It is easier to consolidate domains and not have them scattered across too many different places. Besides, many registrars will get you bulk pricing.
Most important criteria are pricing, convenience (management tools) and of course trust/security.

Transferring to a more popular registrar like GoDaddy, eNom, Moniker, Dynadot can increase salability for domains acquired through SnapNames & Pool drop auctions where you frequently end up with an obscure registrar.
