There is no shortage of suckers in this industry...
Everytime a new TLD is launched the sunrise period is sometimes surprising and the recent .me auctions are no exception.
It turns out that the proud new owner of toyota.me also registered skoda.me, porsche.me and God know what else.
So far he has spent low $$$,$$$ in an extension that is pretty much worthless as it stands today. One can think of better ways to burn money.
In the meantime the registries are smiling all the way to the bank.

I would never spend that much on a new extension right off the bat especially for trademark based names. ouch! Must be nice to have that kind of money to burn.

I can see a lot of value in .me domains - especially brandable ones (e.g. insure.me etc). I've already got about 15 myself and don't plan to let any of them go for cheap. But registering trademarked domain names... no thanks!!
Absolutely right. This is exactly what I have been urging .me domainers to do. There is no point in selling the brandable .me domains for a few bucks and therefore decreasing their value. The best option is to develop excellent sites for the catchy names and then let the traffic show big time investors your address. It requires some patience but it’s worth doing.
We are working on developing pics.me, lenders.me, lawyers.me, loanto.me, foreclosure.me, sexwith.me, then we have a few adult names as well... but not sure i can post the names up here.
