| NamePros Regular | So after a month... how am I doing? Found NamePros about 2 months ago. I didn't start really getting into domaining until about a month ago... now I'm addicted. But my problem is... I've pretty much run out of cash to invest. In total, I've invested about $520 this past month in domains. So my portfolio now consists of 25 domains... 12 LLLL.com - I bought at an average of $28 each. They're not great, but they aren't bad either. Seven of these are triple premium, one of these of which is a CVVC, another a YCVC. Out of these 12, four of them contain no bad letters (Q,X,Y,Z). All expire anywhere from 9 months - 11 months from now, so "renewal fees" are included. Here's the list of them: dfjn, fgyn, hoxr, mryx, ojpd, pmwk, qedr, qieb, ufbw, wybj, ybgn, yveh. Here's to hoping the LLLLs are at their low currently. 3 LL-L or L-LL.com - These were more an early purchase a reg fee. Maybe they'll be bought out in about a year, but... not really sure, not too confident on them to be honest, which is why I've only got three. 3 Asia domains - I got sucked into it. These were expensive. But they're alright. One I'm developing, but now looking at it, it's going to be a big project, and will take a long time. Hoping to get something decent out of televise asia. 2 eWords - One is a .org extension, the other is a .me (being developed). The words are eMobility org (possible end user potential maybe), and eTutor me (development). 2 Random - One cheap info registration under development. The other a .org extension. Had all major tlds taken, and like 10-15 ccTLDs taken, so maybe it has end user potential. 1 LLLLL.com - One for the hell of it. Obviously pronounceable and all good letters. Maybe will find an end user, maybe not. 1 Eventual Drop - First registration. Wish I could get rid of it... well I can, but I might as well sell it in a few months for like $3 or something. Stupid registration, and that's the end of it. So after about a month, and $520 which I now look at as "money I cannot spend at the moment" I own: 17 .com domains (1 mini-site, and possible future development, majority end users or reseller) 3 .asia domains (1 development, others hoping for end users) 2 .me domains (both being developed) 2 .org domains (looking for end users) 1 .info domain (development) 0 .net/.us/.biz/.mobi/whatever else there is. Evaluation appreciated! Thanks. This is about it for my investment. Time to see what I can do with $500. Last edited by thenext88; 08-06-2008 at 08:41 AM. |

| Senior Member | Hopefully the price of LLLL's go up for your sake. Overall I am not a big fan personally of LLLL's. I think they were a fad that domainers started buy buying them all out. Last year at this time you could buy LLLL.com's for reg fee and they were not all bought out. Time will tell what will happen. I keep hearing of end user sales for mad money... but have no personal experience in that area. :P I think it's good that you are diversifying.. not investing all in one place. At first I invested all in one place and got burned pretty bad, now I have a nice assortment of all types of domains in various extentions. As far as your .asia domains, only time will tell. Same with .me. Have to ask yourself how many years of 20$ reg fees will you hold onto them and still make a proffit. Over all you aren't doing bad. If long term is your strategy you are headed on the right track. You bought alot better domains than I did when I started out ![]() Good luck, nice to have you here on the forum!

| www.DataCube.com | I think you are doing pretty good. LLLL are popular, and will only become more popular. Right now there is good liquidity to sell any LLLL.com names to resellers, with many possible end users also. There are only 456K LLLL.com total. Internet usage in the word is only at 21% worldwide. As that number grows and more names are developed, the supply will be limited and they will go up in price. Premium letters in English, are not premium letters in other languages, so there are potential end users even for "bad" letters. Brad

| www.DataCube.com | There are a lot of websites that are developed on LLLL with what most would consider bad letters. But in many countries line China, they have a different set of premium letters. "Interestingly, several of the so-called average and bad letters are popular in other languages. For example, j, k, q, x and z are frequently used in Pinyin Chinese, while v, w and z are relatively common (more so than j or p) in German." Quote:

| NamePros Regular | My LLLLs are geared toward long term. If I do sell them short term, I will buy less higher quality LLLLs. The way I see it, they are a pretty safe bet for now. I've though about the worst case scenario, and the most likely outcome. Lots of low quality LLLLs drop in October/November. However, they all get bought up just as quickly as they are dropped, and we have similar to what happened last year. No $52 minimum prices, but I believe the market will resume where it left off. That's what I believe the worst case scenario will be... But either way... I believe having LLLLs is much better than just letting the money sit around in the bank at... 2% interest? If I'm wrong that's fine. I'll be starting out at $50K+ next year. I pretty much can afford to lose $500, but no more. The rest I need to hold me over for my final year of college (books... booze, and more booze). At this point in my life I'd rather lose money investing... instead of losing money through depreciation of a material possession I don't really need. (This was the mistake I made 3 years ago when I had $3000 at my disposal) Last edited by thenext88; 08-06-2008 at 10:33 AM. |

| Connecting.... | Overall I think you are doing great, when I look at your list of domains. One thing, my experience is to better buy 1 good one than 12 not so good ones, and then I am referring to the LLLL com's. But ofcourse that's my opinion and not a golden rule... Good luck m8 ! |

| NamePros Regular | It's all offline right now. I'm not going to buy web hosting until I get a what I feel is a decent amount completed. Once I do, I'll get a host (already have one bookmarked) and just upload everything, change my domain servers, and have everything running. |
