Can you afford the high annual registration? Say $1,000 to $10,000 or more per year? If you can, it might be worth it. Say you buy a domain with a $5,000 registration. Now let's say you don't sell it for 3-5 years. In 5 years, you would have to sell you domains for $21,000 to make a $1,000 profit.
On the other hand, if you sold it in one year for $10,000, you just made $5,000.
It all depends on if you have the money, and if you can afford to possibly lose that money per annually.
Remember, just because you pay a $5,000 annual registration, doesn't mean it will sell. Just think if you saw a domain name for sale, and you liked it, and want to buy it. What would you think when they told you it has a $5,000 annual registration, are you still going to buy it? If you are Google, MGM, Ford, or some big company, $5,000 per year is no big deal. To the average person, it is a big deal. I don't mean a good deal, but a lot of money!
